I haven't been a Birthday Massacre fan for very long, ok maybe a year, but still the moment my boyfriend previewed me their 'Violet' album when I stayed round his house one day, I knew that me and The Birthday Massacre were going to be new best friends! I currently own all their albums and although I'm not the type of person to purchase 'singles' I was curious about this CD since the remixes included on this release were of some of my favourites from the 'Walking with Strangers' album and heard their cover on myspace. My boyfriend got me this for my birthday. This is the album that changed rock and industrial forever. When did Front 242, Skinny Puppy etc start using guitars? After hearing this album. My personal highlight is 'Deity', which is the most perfect tune ever! This is where dance music wishes it was now, not to mention what it has trying to do for years. 'Stigmata', 'The Land of Rape and Honey', need I go on? Watch 'In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up', listen to the tracks from this CD played on that video and see if you can deny the impact of this album on the world. Devestating!

This was the last "studio" album released by one man band & Norse extremist Varg Viknerness (well, released after his imprisonment infact), and its quite a departure in sound from previous releases. I'd say it was the most accessible for the first timer - instead of shrieking these are clever distorted industrial type vocals. still intense, with the added bonus that you can understand what he's singing. The guitars are multilayered, treble heavy & much more intricate than first meets the ear, with repeated listens you will hear hidden stuff. I can;t say I;ve heard anything quite like it. I listen to a lot of metal buying in the region of 4 to 5 albums a week. I do find albums like this useful in that I decide if I like the tracks and if I do then I buy the album they are from. In this case I think this is an excellent compilation although not all of it can be lassed as metal, certainly punk/rock styles are included. I did alreday possess a number of the tracks but it was worth purchasing for the tracks I had not heard. If you are unfamiliar, or do not own any of the music on this album, then buy it, you will not be disappointed. The price of a compilation like this makes it worth purchasing.

The Dearest Boss and I became Rammstein converts comparatively recently via Kerrang!. Highly recommended - excellent vfm. We've had hours of good clean fun since we purchased it. Sound quality is excellent even though it will not play in DD5.1 (despite this option showing on the audio set-up menu). Despite this minor glitch, it sounds fantastic, especially when you can feel the bass through the sofa. If you live in a semi or an apartment, this would be an excellent choice for annoying the neighbours. Crank it up and enjoy! Yum
