From the first track 'Bruca Manigua' (which you will replay over and over) to the last. This album is simply Unbelievable. I only discovered Buena Vista with the free Movie cd with my Sunday Times a couple of weeks ago and Ibrahim Ferrer is just an undiscovered Legend in my books. Well, up till the last few years of his life. GET THIS!!!

It is wonderful to have a WHOLE listenable album of amazingly well crafted, chilled, sophisticated music by one group.

I just love this album, Lebanese Blonde is one of the best chill out tunes of all time but there are some other truly great tracks on there.

I bet this was a fantastic live show - shame it sounds so flat on the CD!

Unlike the other reviewer I came to this recording as a fan of Willie Nelson. I think Willie sounds pretty good on the whole - I just wish there was a bit more of him! His regular harmonica buddy, Mickey Raphael, is the real star of the show for me - his soloes shine above everyone else!

The first two tracks, "Bright Lights, Big City", and Willie's own "Night Life", are the highlights for me. The lowest points being the two tracks associated with Hank Williams ("My Bucket's Got a Hole in It" and "Nobody's Business"), which, for me, don't seem to work in this jazz setting.

All in all, it's not a terrible album but certainly not ... Read More:

The Ink Spots were one of the most popular vocal groups of the forties. There were no record sales charts in Britain back then so I don't know which of their songs were most popular in the UK, but a look at the American charts shows that this collection omits several big hits. Nevertheless, many others are included and all the tracks here are worth hearing, so I don't mind - this is, after all, a budget collection. The sound quality, while not perfect, is fine given the age of the recordings.

Here you will find the original version of Whispering grass, which became a British number one hit in the seventies when covered by TV actors Windsor Davis and Don Estelle. Another song that got a new lease of life via a cover is My prayer, which ... Read More:

This debut album is all you would expect from a band featuring musicians, most of whom had served their apprenticeships with the likes of Graham Bond and John Mayall. Colosseum used this grounding to create a fusion of blues, rock and jazz which was often copied but NEVER bettered.

From the opener, Bond's "Walking in the park" to "Those about to die" which closes the original album Hiseman and co deliver a top quality set which while tight allows individuals room to experiment. Vocals were never to the forefront in early Colosseum music, four instrumentals on this album are, "Mandarin", "Beware the ides of march" and "The road she walked before" and "Those about to die".

The bonus tracks appear to have been lifted from ... Read More:

Excellent CD & DVD package from Tyner's own Half Note / McCoy Tyner music label with hours of listening and viewing pleasure. The CD is based around the McCoy Tyner trio which consists of himself,Ron carter and Jack DeJohnette with five guitarists guesting on 2, 3 or 4 tracks each. The contrasting style of the guitarists make for a very interesting listen indeed.
First up is Marc Ribot with a very rock/fusion'sh sound which, i must admit doesn't quite sound right with the piano trio but he does solo well though.John Scofield is next and fits in perfectly in my opinion with a great swinging version of "Mr PC" (one of the picks of the album) and a time honoured rendition of "Blues on the corner".Shame he didn't stick around for an extra track ... Glenn Miller was a wartime orchestra leader who died in a mysterious airoplane crash, which is explained in the DVD documentary 'Glenn Miller's Last Flight' (*recommended). So, born in 51 as I was, his genre of music was more in tune with my parent's generation, but it overspilled, and we heard quite a lot of it via 78's and the wonderfully drawling James Stewart playing his role in 'The Glenn Miller Story' which seemed to be on TV back then quite often (now also on DVD!)
So, even though the music was cringeworthy as far as our peer's were concerned, (we wouldn't have been 'Hip' in the mid-60's if they knew we held a light for Glenn Miller!), but in all honesty, some of his music gave you the old adrenaline rush / backbone shiver, nevertheless. ... Read More:

Not a bad mix of jazz and pop-music; something like a modernized Frank Sinatra, but with a more emotion in the voice and a bit more variety in arrangements (not better than Sinatra-only different).

The choice of songs is excellent and this is really highly recomended music for romantic evenings or as background for a dinner-party. I would personally prefer a bit more spice and swing, but this is still nice.
