'Amazing' is the only word for Andy McKee's playing. The only other modern guitarist who comes to mind with his level of skill and ability to create whole soundscapes of magic and mystery is that of the late and much-missed Michael Hedges. Unfortunately, Amazon do not provide sound samples - but that's no problem. Search for Andy by name in Youtube and you will find a huge number of high quality recordings of him playing .... so you can hear him and also see how he does what he does. Stunning.

As a kid growing up, I found Jimmy Durante to have a style that was somewhat comic--and my reaction was exactly what he cultivated as part of his public persona. For those of us who were young during the waning years of his career, Jimmy was a clown. Even now, no one ever could call his voice beautiful, yet I can think of no more fitting a talent to sing the songs on this CD. His raspy style perfectly fits the original moods of classics such as "As Time Goes By," "I'll Be Seeing You," and "Try A Little Tenderness." Every melody on this CD is a gem, and the way Jimmy styles them simultaneously makes the listener want to weep and to dance. Can there be a higher compliment for a crooner? There's really nothing to say about this apart from its the Rat Pack live on CD & DVD at almost their peak. Yes the DVD is in black & white & yes some of the 'banter' seems a bit dated but this is 5 star entertainment from 3 stars. If you think it was only Frank, think again - Dean & Sammy show (not for the first time) they too were stars. Dean could really swing & Sammy could really sing. But, for me Frank is simply overwealming, his timing, his phasing & most of all his sheer stage presence shines thru. So often "the very best of" albums can be disappointing. That was not the case with this marvellous Satchmo compilation. I have no other albums by this marvellous man and wanted something definitive with everything I'd ever heard of by him in one place. This double CD gave me exactly what I wanted. You only have to look at the track listings to start to smile or feel nostalgic. There are so many truely great songs; classic Satchmo tracks and less well known but equally loved tunes. There are great duets, many of which have a really fresh immediate feel with bits of conversation and banter between the artists as they sing. You would think that songs from the 1970s would sound a little dated by now; but then you wouldn't be talking about Elkie Brooks' Pearls, the CD that gave me a heads up 30 years ago and which recently made me rediscover her on CD (now that I had nothing on which to play my original vinyl copy). Her gravelly voice goes so well with the words, which will get you sobbing into your glass of Beaujolais if you are in the least bit emotional. If you don't know of Elkie Brooks' music then this is the CD to buy first.

This is an unusual album... it's jazz, but not as you know it. I can even hear hints of Tori Amos on 'Well' and Radiohead on 'Dinosaur Die'. The musicianship of these three is just stunning and what really strikes me so much about the album is the production, it's so beautifully engineered, so flawless, it's a treat every time it's played. All the tracks are good, some more beautiful than others, with great, soaring musical landscapes that Cowley manages to conjure up on the piano. Really great drumming and double bass too. Highly recommended.

If you like Miles from this period and don't already have these recordings, you can't go wrong with these (at below £5 as of Nov 08). As to quality, admittedly I don't have high end equipment, but I can't tell the difference between disc 3 and my own copy of 'Steamin'. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that there are no liner notes.

Has to be Zappa's most overrated album! Not nearly as good as "Were only in it for the Money", "Absolutely Free" or "Freak out". Hell its probably not even as good as "Burnt weeny Sandwich"!

This is an amazing album by Kenny G. If you are a fan of Latin music or not, you have to listen to this. It has great tunes, very relaxing, chilling, and creates a warm, sensual, and magical atmosphere. You can tell it is Kenny G without hesitation, it has the fluent, addictive and smooth touch to it. My favorite is Mirame Bailer, it is the best title on this album. This is a must buy, great music, great Rhythm, and it is Kenny G, so you won't regret it.
