Metheny has won somewhere in the region of 16 grammys in several categories
but is ignored by the mass media. Never mind, to hear good music one has to actually search it out and make an effert and take a chance on buying it to do so. I first heard of Metheny when i saw a concert on TV where he featured as part of the Joni Mitchell band. I searched out a couple of his albums, this being one of them. At first i wasn't too sure about it. But after a few listens this is one of my desert island discs and Metheny i consider to be one of the great guitarists and composers around. This album reinstates melody back into jazz, it is accessible but also very daring, combining new technologies of guitar synthesiser and keyboard effects played ... Read More:

This is an excellent compilation which is Uptempo & On The Bossa Side of Jazz, tracks which some of us have been spinning in clubs on the original vinyl for years now onto CD! The outstanding track for me is Bala Com Bala a hard Bossa dancfloor filler from Elis Regina, Enjoy!

Music : Masters at Work 10th Anniversary Vol.2
this compilation is a must for any house music fan, whether you be new or old. MAW have been remixing and producing the best tracks in the business for over a decade now and the tracks on this cd shows not only their genius but diversity aswell. signature vocal tracks such as the truly sublime 'to be in love' and jocelyn brown featured 'its alright (i feel it) to more latin-jazz influenced tracks like 'el barrio' with george benson.the mix of tracks range from the nuyorican soul album to rnb remixes for the likes of kele le roc. this cd is unmixed so all the songs are full length for dj-ing delight. as a follow on from vol 1 its not as good overall, however the stand out tracks are huge!!! as a kenny and louie devotee i am biased when i say they can ... A soundtrack that is eclectic and yet always listenable. Full of interesting quirky music of the type you would never get around to buying but you would like to own. A mixture for whatever mood you are in and your hand is hovering across the various catogories of your collection. Good choice. The right mixture for an intelligent series.

Have to disagree with the other reviewer, as this isn't actually that bad. There's 4 CDs of Salsa/Cuban/Latin music of slightly differing moods (Latin Cool, Late night Latin, Latin for Lovers and Salsa Dance Classics) and although it sounds a bit cheesy and some of the tracks are by the same artist (presumably as a commercial cover band) which does make you tend to avoid these CDs, actually they are quite good and each of the CDs are great to put on. Admittedly this wouldn't be a CD you'd recommend as your only entree into the world of Salsa and it's not going to cut the mustard in a London club, but it's great to stick on for an evening or Sunday afternoon just to put a bit of latin background to your house - and for that it does the job well. I've danced, ... Read More:

As other reviewers have put it, simply fantastic, energetic music!! It also corresponds well to the Buena Vista 2007 tour sound, which has gone more to the brassy band sound. Essential, 'nuff said?

The music of Eliane Elias is deeply harmonic and sensual. At its heart is utterly superb jazz piano - rhythmic, gently propulsive and essentially (though not overtly) Brazilian. Elias infuses her sonorous, vibrant playing with some pleasingly melodic, whispery-delicate vocals - always pitch-perfectly complementing her sumptuous piano verve.

'Bossa Nova Stories' combines loving interpretations of Brazilian jazz classics with some popular American standards, all quality-assured by the formidable rhythm section of top-level bassist Marc Johnson (her husband) and percussionist Paulo Braga. About half the tracks are enriched by subtle orchestral arrangements conducted by Rob Mathes - reminiscent to me of those that embellish Diana Krall's 'The Look of Love'. ... Read More:

This is one of those hynotic early sixties Blue Note sessions that must surely go down as one of Jazz's masterpieces. This was recorded as a dedication to Silver's Japanese fans and the reception his band received whilst on tour there.
We start with the kicking,"Too much Sake." It's Silver's agility and sense of tempo, omnipresent on all his recordings that mark his music out. This track is another classic example.
Then we come to, "Sayonara Blues," for me one of the greatest pieces of music in Jazz. Witness the way Silver builds the tempo from a single starting note, his relentless control of the tempo through two admirable solos from Mitchell and Cook and then his own beautiful arching solo that breaks through the rhythm of the track. It's a transcendal ... Read More:
