I can only chime in with the previous reviews, this is a fantastic record well worth buying both volumes for the charm of some of the more obscure songs. I would add that the version of Sweet Jane was supposedly performed on the day it was written, which may well explain its naivety and beauty.

city and colour for those who dont know is the solo venture by dallas green who does guitar and clean vocals for the classy alexisonfire,this is very different in style being all acoustic and here he records his stuff live,on cd and also on dvd. Dallas green is a vunerable solo artist in many ways,not entirely comfortable in what he does alone and that shows but it works in his favour as well,certainly not flowing with confidence,this is something that wont suit everyone,even if you count yourself as an alexisonfire fan. The show is sparse,just dallas,either electric guitar or acoustic and sometimes the use of piano,the crowd are all very polite and the show is very much about the man himself. I grew up in the Woodstock era and was actually stationed in nearby West Point after my Viet Nam tour. So this collection or documentary "The Road to Woodstock" directed by Bob Smeaton also holds a piece of me history. I must say I almost did not watch this film as the front have was a packed with sound bites of people doing just what I did in the first paragraph of this review; they spent too much time telling how great they were and then some antidote about Jimi. Hang in there you will be carried away. This is as close to live as you are going to get. Jimi is one of those performers that when let lose can perform rings around his formal recordings. This early recording by Queen in early 1973 is fascinating to listen to, it showcases their unbelievable talent before anybody knew them. Anyone who heard this performance at the time must have been excited by what they were hearing, brians hard edged, jimmy page-esque guitar sound and fantastic high-pitched vocals by freddie. Queen were heavily criticised for trying to be Led Zeppelin, i wonder, what on earth is so bad about that? Who better to have as a hard rock influence than the genius of Zeppelin. Tracks on this album are mostly from the first album, but have a looser feel to them with a few silly ad-libs. here we have a lazy best of made up of the bands greatest hits all from live recordings across the bands career. for the completist its essential for the passer by its not. it is a good live album as the sound quality is pretty good through out with only a couple of songs suffering from a slight dip in quality. the obvious choices are here in the form of "dirt" "them bones" and "man in the box" and they all sound brilliant and then on the plus side they throw in the odd "queen of the rodeo" in to convince you to part with your cash!!! sly goats, but its worth it.

This is the first Depeche Mode DVD that I've watched since 101 (on video) when I first became a fan of DM around 26 years ago and I must say I loved it. They are still as exciting, talented, entertaining and brilliant as they were all those years ago. Dave Gahan's voice has just got better over the years although I found Martin Gore's to have changed dramatically (yes drama-tically) although still very good!! Dave Gahan still has the touch too - spending most of the show only half dressed - but I'm not complaining. It was good to hear Just Can't Get Enough, Everything Counts and Shake the Disease again as these were some of the earlier DM songs that haven't been heard for a while. As my review is titled I wasn't sure whether I needed this live recording of the Corrs, considering I had most of the tracks already on other albums. However after watching a DVD of the Corrs that my friend had, I really enjoyed their cover of "old town" so decided to buy this album. Now it is easily my fave Corrs cd! The fact it is live adds so much to the music, if you listen hard on Toss the Feathers you can her Andrea taking sharp intakes of breath between penny whistling! For all the people who think the Corrs are light weight pop stars, listen to this cd and realise they are talented musicians who can play live and have great flexibility.
