Music : ****: Live in Phoenix
It's a lazy Sunday morning in Wolf Cave. The sun is at last shining
and another fine fat piglet is roasting slowly in the oven.
The scent of garlic and thyme almost intoxicating.
Simple contentment comes in many forms.

Scatty and Grits (The Cubs) are very excited today.

Already owning Fall Out Boy's back catalogue in its' entirety has
not prevented them from investing in this splendid new live album.

The recording's appearance, you will doubtless already know, has arrived
simultaneously with the DVD release of the same Pheonix concert.

The boys are disappointed in not having been able to afford both and
complain incessantly about not getting enough pocket ... Read More:

Ok...so imagine the situation. You see an advert wanting guys for a new band, so you respond, get the gig, and when you realise the scale of how big things are gonna be do you say "Cheers for the offer but I think I'll go back to school college etc."?! No, did n't think so. They were a pop band and they were a good pop band, presenting non-offensive, very catchy tunes to the kids of the UK and beyond. This album captures the spirit of a live gig and the rapport the boys have with the crowd. Everyone is having an amazing time and this comes through clearly in the music. Mostly good songs, played and sung well, for a live gig and easy to listen to in any situation. So if you have ever secretkey or otherwise, liked Busted or are curious ... Read More:

When is Erykah Badu going to get worldwide recognition? This album blends the amazing vocal talents of Badu with the thick, passionate music of the band (and singers.) Quite possibly the most outstanding and fullfilling album of it's genre I believe. (And believe me I own the lot.) The soul that is put into the likes of Tyrone and On and On is unbelievable! And if you want something to give you a bit of a kick, there is no better than the Chaka Kahn cover (Stay)! Believe me-this is a must!!!!!

George stole the show at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert in April 1992 and two songs from that set appear on this EP. Strange how Papa/Killer/Calling You also ended up on here whilst the other Queen track George performed ("39") was omitted.

A UK No.1 one this is a must for Queen and/or George Michael fans and perhaps even Seal fans interested to hear his cover of "Killer"!

I have loved this record from day one! Way back when on disc. Seeing this released on CD now with bonus tracks is really fantastic!! There are two GREAT tracks on this live album that stand out to me. "Softly As I Leave You" and also "Maybe Someday" These two songs Cliff never recorded in the studio for reasons unknown, They are both very moving. Also, This new CD release includes some tracks that were never on the 1983 LP, But most true Cliff fans will know. "Discovering, You Me And Jesus, The Golden Days Are Over, And Little Town. They were left off the original album due to time, But it's really great to hear them now on this CD!

I can't believe that it is 30 years since this was recorded. I am proud to say that I was at one of the shows at the Hammersmith Odeon, and wow, that really was a show. I can't really add much more than the previous reviewers, other than why isn't this album ever mentioned on these so called lists of "Best Live Albums"? The recording itself is balanced nicely, and the first track, the "Overture" slides in brilliantly with a hint of the "Jaws" theme. Nicely done.
This is my favourite Tubes album.

157.One for the Road: Live by: Ocean Colour Scene

Music : One for the Road: Live
One For The Road: Live is a tour de force from Ocean Colour Scene, demonstrating their prowess as songwriters and live performers. All the hits are here, laid out beautifully, with a great combination of the early hits and the more recent successes. They are played with a vibrancy and passion that is engrossing from the first listen and I can thoroughly, thoroughly recommend it.

I am of the opinion that live albums are better for passive fans than greatest hits albums, and this is no exception. If you want a guide through OCS, this is the place to come.

My personal favourites on here are the trio from track 10 to 12 and the encore from 17-19. Ocean Colour Scene are, for those that don't know yet, great live.

As we wait for new material and recover from the moshpits on the recent UK tour we have this little beauty to keep us interested. The DVD has about 100 minutes of live footage, interviews and general Molly material all of which is most cool! Some of the older live footage is superb and the profiles and interviews are quite 'telling' without being intrusive - they've just let the band members talk and filmed it. Hearbreaking scenes when Dave King is playing in his mum's house and when they visit his Dad's grave. The CD has five acoustic versions on which are all superb and alomst as good as the originals ... but not quite. There are then five storming live versions which do a fair job of taking you back to a Molly gig - but you'll need to cover yourself in beer and jump ... Read More:
