Went to see 'We Will Rock You', got 'Live Killers' the next day and didn't listen to much else for about a year or two. The energy, humour and their anthems make this one of the finest live albums ever recorded and once you're in there, you're on another planet. The balance of showmanship, pomp and full throttle heavy rock is perfect, and if you have heard Queen's early 70's live recordings then you know their roots. Mercury's vocal performance and showmanship is phenomenal, May's wall of sound fills whatever venue they were playing and Taylor's drumming, particularly his solo on 'Now I'm Here', marks him as the epitome of rock'n roll drumming. Sorry John, you got the initials. Maybe they should have called it a day then, following this they ... Read More:

I've been waiting for this for so long - happy memories of 1973 onwards with this as the soundtrack. There are some of the original comments missing but most of them are there (including the pliers/strong hand one which one reviewer mentioned was missing). It's a fantastic live gig, far beter than the one from Hammersmith and if you haven't heard it already then get it now! It's great to hear Mick Ronson's spectacularly raw guitar playing which is a perfect complement to David's haunting vocals.Love it, love it, love it and it hasn't been off either my car CD player, Ipod or sound system since I bought it.

I've never really bothered with live albums in the past, always finding them a poor substitute of actually being there. This album changed my mind...

Live at Leeds, with its distinctively minimalist sleeve, is that rarest of commodities: a great live album from a great rock band. Roger Daltrey is at his growling best, whilst Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Pete Townshend provide a suitably hard-hitting, hard rock accompaniment. They absolutely assault a number of rock-and-roll standards (`Young Man Blues', `Summertime Blues' and `Shakin' All Over) and batter through their own material with brio. Listening to the lean, focussed `Substitute' and lengthy `Magic Bus' you can see why the album was positioned at 170 in music magazine Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time [2003].

25.Live at Blues Alley by: Eva Cassidy

Music : Live at Blues Alley
I was heartbroken to hear that Eva Cassidy herself considered Live at Blues Alley to be a lesser work. I think it is her best album and it is the one I reach for first when I need an "Eva Fix." Each song is an individual treasure, and together, they form artistry that continues to make me mourn the loss of one of the 20th Century's finest voices, and people.

A great many of the Unplugged series albums have been hit and miss and it is a relief to hear this one from Bryan Adams ending up firmly in the hit section. He manages to rework his songs just enough to fit the acoustic format and yet they retain their original feel throughout. Tracks such as 'Summer of 69' and 'Run to You' are staggeringly good played acoustic and the upbeat 'Back to You' and 'I Think About You' never fail to get my toes tapping every time I hear them. 'When You Love Someone' has a beautiful Celtic feel to it that elevates it above the ordinary on this album as well. As far as Bryan Adams and Unplugged albums goes this one rates pretty highly and is well worth a try.

This is a really fascinating collection, for all devotees of Marianne, but especially for those fans that are keener on her early work. All the 60's hits are here except `Is this what I get for loving you?' The collection runs in chronological order, and even includes the interviews Marianne gave prior to the live sessions which are interesting in their own right, with Marianne coming across as shy and well spoken.

The first session on the disc is a little tentative, but Marianne's voice is on the whole strong, confident and pure throughout; indeed, several of the performances go beyond what was committed to disc. Notably `Yesterday', which is performed without the orchestral backing, `Cockleshells' with its lovely harmony vocals and a delicate `Tomorrow's ... Read More:

This DVD lives up to the high expectations of its title; it does indeed include a compilation of all the best Tina Turner live songs you could possibly hope to imagine, and what's more, they're chosen from several different tours, presumably by Tina herself, and so deliver to you the most exciting, energetic performances that she's done across the globe, not simply the most convenient nor from any one touring year. Therefore, you get favourites such as "I Can't Stand The Rain" from 1994, "River Deep Mountain High" from 1996, and "Private Dancer" from 2000. The songs chop and change between these three tours, with different members of the band, different stage constructions, and varying sized crowds, but the flow of songs is pleasing and the sequence blends seemlessly at all times, which ... 30.Live From Dakota by: Stereophonics

Music : Live From Dakota
When you first listen to the album, you are confronted with an awesome introductory track of 'Superman' that is arguably better than their studio version. Throughout the live album you hear there best songs performed live to a fantastic level.

A must for Phonics fans, and for any music lover - especially those who understand and appreciate excellent live performances. It is excellent value for money and comes on two discs - brilliant.
