Much has been made about Bobby Bland's voice not being what it once was. He is still one of the great ones, and if one weren't aware how truly extraordinary he once was, listening to him now wouldn't be quite so depressing. But, except for the occasional trademark phlegm induced growl he'll let out, he is still great. This CD was recorded at the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis where Bland made a name for himself. He is in good form as is his solid rhythm section. The real treat is that for recording purposes Bland and Malaco Records added a keyboard player to his regular band. 128.Muddy Waters & Howlin' Wolf Gold by: Muddy Waters
October 05, 1995
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : Muddy Waters & Howlin' Wolf Gold
This box features two of blues' biggest stars and at the price is a great purchase for anyone who doesn't own much by either artist.

A few of the tracks are far from perfect, particulary on Muddy Waters' disc, where in a number of cases the harmonica and backing singers, where present, cannot be properly heard. However, the general quality of musicianship is extremely high and worth listening to, and unlike a lot of blues, the piano features quite heavily.

Again a worthwhile purchase, presuming you don't already have a great amount of work by either artist.
