As stated in a previous review, a very under rated album!

Any one who sits back and listens to this album will not be disappointed with the totally sensual jazzy sax, the up beat drums, the strange ambient sounds dotted with the faultless voice of Marvin Gaye.

A pure journey into sound due to the variety of moods this album will encapsulate!!

Enjoy this rare little masterpiece!

Music : What's Going On
This album blew my mind when I first heard it 15 years or so ago. From the first to the last this album reaches the pinnacles that other artists just cannot. To think that it is over 30 years old to me it sounds fresher and more vital than most of the bland R&B that is being offered up today. Also it's political message still blows me away.

This album is so good that everyone should own it. Infact if you know someone who doesn't get them a copy. It would count as a genuine act of kindness on your part.

It's just a shame he's not still with us.

In spite of her appearance on Ready Steady Go there was no sign of Kim Weston on the U K pop charts-closest was the duet with Marvin Gaye.
A little more love and Take me in your arms (Rock me for a little while) were songs which could have hit if Gladys Knight had made them.
Nowadays collectors will assume that the artist was a U K hitmaker but the fact is she wasn't but her song Helpless became a hit in the 80s for Tracey Ullman

I am currently doing the musical production of the Wiz with my school and i have to say i think the music is incredible!! Every song i have performed and listened to while acting have been superb and the soundtrack is so amazing! "You can't win" and "Brand new day" are fantastic and they stick in my head all the time. i have watched the Wiz once before on tv and i thought it was amazing. Michael jackson was superb and so were the other actors. I feel pleased and privelaged to be working on the Wiz at this moment in time and i am so happy i have been introduced to a fantastic glittering array of songs!!!

First off, Four Tops are one of the best groups and all music fans should go out and get their Holland-Dozier-Holland era songs. But anything after that period (1968) is rarely up to this quality. If you want the best of the Four Tops- get the Motown 2-for-1's; For Tops/Second Album, and On Top/Reach Out. They are £4.99 each on Amazon- original recordings of a group in their prime, with one of the most prolific songwriting teams of all time, and with the legendary funk brothers in support. That's £10 for 47 tracks.

What fans should be aware of is that material before and after the recordings on these albums is inferior- in the vocals, the songwriting and in the session musicians. So why anyone would want to spend £6.99 for 24 tracks on themselves, knowing ... Read More:

Syreeta was once married to Stevie Wonder though the marriage only lasted a couple of years. The business relationship was more successful, with Syreeta sometimes singing backup on Stevie's records while Stevie helped Syreeta's career in other ways. Furthermore, they often wrote songs together, their most successful collaboration perhaps being Signed sealed delivered, an international hit for Stevie. As far as I know, they didn't record any duets together.

Syreeta recorded a single in 1968 using the name Rita Wright, the A-side being I can't give back the love I feel for you. The two sides of that single are the final two tracks on this album. Following the failure of that single (despite being well-promoted and getting plenty of American airplay), Syreeta abandoned ... Read More:

118.The Complete Stax/Volt Soul Singles Vol.2 1968-1971 by: Various Artists
September 01, 1993
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : The Complete Stax/Volt Soul Singles Vol.2 1968-1971
This is the second instalment of the Stax story, although it is true to say that it represents the beginning of the story of Stax as an independant distributor of it's music.

To explain, pre'68, the labels output was licensed by Atlantic and when that deal ended, it was discovered that it gave Atlantic the rights to the Stax back catalogue - yes, all those classic tracks by the Soul greats, all unavailable to Stax. So, the label embarked on a new strategy with a new logo. Gone was the pale blue label, with the black discs at the top and in came that vibrant yellow with the famous "finger-clicking" logo.

Also gone was Otis, tragically lost with most of the Barkays in a plane crash in December 1967. That left Stax with no major artist on which to base their ... Read More:

Martha Reeves And The Vandellas were rather over-shadowed by Diana Ross And The Supremes. It really isn't possible to compare Reeves voice with Ross as both had unique and individual qualities of their own. But it's not unfair to say that Martha Reeves could have had the same extravagently successful career as Diana Ross, had she ever really been given the chance.

Martha and the Vandellas were actually pumping out hits before Diana Ross and the Supremes had began their long series of million-selling chart toppers and top 10 smash hits. Whilst they were dubbed as "the no-hit" Supremes by fellow Motown colleagues at that time due to their lack of chart success, Martha and the Vandellas were recording classic after classic.

Come And Get These Memories was the ... Read More:
