Ordinarily, i wouldn't do a review of this item. But i was very surprised to see it had been given two separate five-star ratings. Time to get the overall average down, in my opinion.

Check out the track listing on this live album, and you're going think that it's something out of this world. It's simply jam-packed with loads of mega wonders. However, this is a live album from an artist who is well past his peak. Upon listening to it, i was drawn to the inescapable conclusion that this was a sort of "Stevie Wonder for the cabaret circuit".

Prudence, therefore, before hitting the order button. (My profoundest apologies to his Stevie-ness.)

I bought this to get a copy of their most famous fun hits such as ABC, I Want You Back and Rockin Robin and was pleased to find some other great songs that I hadn't heard before, other than the few really famous hits that are on the album though I wouldn't say much else grabs you and it seems that some really good songs from the Jackson 5 such as 'Blame it on The Boogie' have been left out.

Worth purchasing if your into them or just the famous songs otherwise possibly give it a miss. A nice addition to party music collections though.

In early 1981 it was announced that Diana Ross was leaving Motown Records after twenty years for a reported $20,000,000 deal with RCA Records. After riding high on the success of the dynamic diana (1980) album, Diana Ross was certainly in a position to pick and choose. Following the news of her departure, Motown issued one last album, To Love Again which featured new-at-the-time-of-release songs as well as some old hits and tracks directly plucked from various albums. If anything it was a celebratory exercise to mark her dynamic combination with songwriter Michael Masser who later went on to produce Whitney Houston.

To Love Again (1981) was deleted from Motown's catologue some years ago but re-surfaced in January 2003 with the ... Read More:

This collection has been superbly remastered and provides a wide selection of Jimmy Ruffin's recordings from his time at Motown.

The first disc includes the 45 r.p.m. masters of most of his big hits in the U.K. (Jimmy was far more successful here than in his native USA where he is a bit of a one hit wonder, scoring with "What becomes of the brokenhearted" and not a lot else). It also has album tracks culled from the various albums Motown issued (some only came out in the UK and one only in the USA).

The second disc includes rarer material, such as Jimmy's first single on Miracle in 1961 (he was drafted to the army so couldn't record a follow up for a couple of years) and several unreleased tracks of good quality. They were probably ... Read More:

The 80s were never very kind to Stevie Wonder. After his run of Grammy Award winning, mega selling 70s albums, success didn't come as easily in the 80s. It could have been down to Mr Wonder losing his "genius"; it could've been down to him being tired - he'd released albums at a furious rate - or, and I believe this is what it actually is - he'd discovered the world's appetite for 80s synth-pop! So, leaving his 70s work aside, let's examine 'Characters' against the environment in which it was released. Yes, it is very heavy on the synth' sound, but most of the biggest albums of the 80s were: Michael Jackson's 'Bad', Janet Jackson's 'Control', Madonna's 'First Album'. It seems that Stevie just wanted to play along with the rest of the pop kids rather than ... Read More:

Love this CD . Pleased to see You're All I need To Get By . I love to hear her singing that so much . It makes me happy just listening to it and it compells you to sing along . In The Ones You Love is a great new song and she sounds so good on it .A cover of You Are Not Alone was a major surprise and I was dubious at first because the original was so good . She has made an excellent job of it though .

Chris Clark had just 2 singles issued here and 2 albums. In the States she never troubled a chart.
At the same time as her first single I want to go back there again came one by the backing singers a couple of ex cabaret singers called the Lewis Sisters. You need me is for me Tamla Motown's finest hour.
Chris Clark was not the first white girl-that was ex Hot Boppin' Girl DEBBIE DEAN (Debbie Stevens)who cut singles for the label as far back as 1961.Its more difficult to find her stuff.
The next white girl was KIKI DEE who was possibly TM's first non American signing.
This came at a time-1968-when Motown music was becoming very boring and was to reach its nadir with the Jackson Five.
The wonder is this music got out at all as Chris ... Read More:
