I bought this album because my good good friend selfishly moved out with her copy of one of the Pips albums. I haven't even got around to listening to the 2nd album in this disc set because the 1st CD is so good! Always loved "I Feel A Song In My Heart" and no matter how many times I play it it still makes me want to sing and bop along. Have a new found love for 60's, especially Motown and this was well worth the buy.

I love this album sooo much!!!I am a huge, huge fan and I brought this album after watching the Marvin Gaye DVD, 'Live in Amsterdam: 1976' a few years ago. He gave a live performance of 'All the Way 'Round' and I just fell in love with the song so I decided to buy the whole album and I was not dissapointed. The album has been put onto my ipod and has been played constantly!!Marvin is at his sensual best and its just a very smooth and chilled album. I know its classed as a lovers album but I just enjoy playing it when I want to relax as the songs are very mellow.I love 'All the Way Round', 'Since I had You' and 'I Want You' the most but all the songs have their charm. "Lonely Lonely Girl Am I" is one of the BEST Motown singles in their catalogue. Absolute perfection. That's all I wanted to say!

OK, this is a good collection of songs from the album's subject but c'mon, no Cilla Black! Cilla had two no.1 hits in the 60s as well as 8 more top ten smashes. Why, does it seem that Cilla has been airbrushed out of 60s music, her voice really was one of a kind. This mayor release could have introduced more people to Cilla's music but all it is an insult to her musical legacy where so many one hit wonders have their songs included here, there is no Cilla recording to be found.

The Story of the Supremes this is a good 2 cd set for anybody to start with, it will show you how and why the supremes are the one and only all time girl group, others may try but will never be any closer to being supreme , it has all the tracks you want and a few extra ones some may not have heard befor.comes with a good very well laid out booklet which will fill you in on some info on the girls, i still think of its time WHEN THE LOVELIGHT STARTS SHINING, is just one of the best tracks the girls did stick it on and turn it up and just go with it. enjoy this cd it will bring years of pure supreme magic.

This one followed Volume 3 to the top of the UK Album chart. It was tucked between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin in October 1970. The hits were coming thick and fast for Tamla Motown. Wheras Vol 3 was nearly half re-releases, there was only one on here. The Four Tops' anthemic 'I Can't Help Myself', finally got UK justice with a top ten placing. Their version of Jimmy Webb's 'Do What You Gotta Do' made number 11. Motown and Jimmy had a win-win relationship. His first song writing royalty cheque came from a song he wrote on The Supremes' 1965 Christmas album. The stock split of Diana Ross & The Supremes is catalogued here. This one followed barely six months after Vol 4, and spent three weeks as the UK's No 1 album in April/May 1971. The star track for me is 'Tears Of A Clown' from Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, which had hit No 1 in 1970. It was recorded a few years earlier, and was 'discovered' by a Tamla Motown employee in London. They releaesd the track, and the rest is history. Following the British success, they put it out in America, where it also did the business. The song is still never off the radio, but it is one that I never tire of. Tamla Motown in London had a fairly free hand in what they released. They knew their market, and they knew what would get airplay. Diana Ross had not had a big UK hit since 'Love Hangover' in 1976 when this album was recorded. I love it, because it's the album that introduced me to the music of Diana Ross and in time many other Motown legends. This is not a typical Diana Ross album as there are no traditional ballads. Instead we get a succession of cool grooves from Chic's Edwards and Rogers with Diana's sumptious vocals over the top. Apart from the obvious charms of 'Upside Down' and 'I'm Coming Out' the outstanding tracks are 'Now That You're Gone' and 'Tenderness' (a minor hit in 1981). This album is equally loved and loathed by Ross fans but whatever your opinion it shows Diana as a serious album artist rather than a singer of hit singles. This is by far the best Christman album I've ever heard! It was recorded in 1967 when he was only 17 years old. He really creates a lovely atmosphere with this album, and all songs are wonderfully done (especially "Ave Maria" and "The Christmas Song"). There is a reason why this album has survived four decades...If you've got lots of Christmas music at home but you haven't got this one, then you've still got nothing! Get it NOW before Christmas arrives!!
