This is a great CD, nice mix of music from the new 'it guy' in the music industry. but has anyone else noticed the similarity between the CD itself .. and the shape of bald manc git Karl pilkingtons head??? interesting

This album has taken me by surprise. I didn't buy it for me but for the other half. Truth is though, many tracks have caught my ear and I've been playing it sneakily by myself too when no-one else is around, but don't tell her will you?! You see, I wasn't really expecting an album displaying such a diverse range of electronic influence. Being a fan of Jarre and Kraftwerk, there is more than a nod and a wink to these classic artists here, as well as more contemporary influences such as Groove Armada and even The Streets. All in all a great album. 4 stars!

a perfect mix of rock and acoustic, which is what they do best. yes, even better than colour and the shape in my opinion

Superb compilation with the obligatory chart successes of the 50s and 60s, some 70s tracks from her acclaimed "Memphis" and Warm and Tender" albums; a couple of fine duets with Michael McDonald and Dusty Springfield; a tribute to Queen; some excellent tracks from 2002, and most especially 4 new songs. Petula's voice is better, stronger and more soulful than ever on these fantastic, largely self-penned, rather reflective songs, recorded in London, New York, and the fantastic new studios of Arthanor Productions in Geneva in 2008 and with production by John Williams and David Hadzis. ISOS 5 was widely regarded as the classic - this is way better! Very instrumental, very light on the vocals, which is how I like my trance. CD 1 / CD 2... they're both stunners. The best trance I've heard in a long while.

I have only seen glimpses of the TV series, but no matter. This a wonderfully silly album combining very witty lyrics, with accurately observed pastiches of every genre of music. The standout track initially is "It's partytime", in which a self-delusional "luvvaman" serenades his "wo'man". It's the last time I'll ever try to seduce my wife wearing just my black socks! The other tracks bear repeated listening, and the joys of the wonderfully crafted lyrics are soon to be relished and enjoyed. BUY IT!

My friend played me Room For Squares one day and after that I was truelly smitten with this artist!! I cannot get enough of his bluesy notes and can honestly say there is not a single track on any of his albums that I do not like. His style suits all moods and his lyrics draws you in to your imagination and allows you to shut out the world and dream!! Brilliant as always. if you have'nt already heard this man play then do yourself a favour, buy this album and while you're at it, buy the rest of them too!!

This album is beautiful and nearly every song has had me in tears. Leona sings her heart out in "Here I am", an ineffable ballad with terrific vocals from the songstress. "Footprints in the Sand" is a phenomenal ballad which makes me cry so much. "Better in Time" and "Yesterday" are adorable rnb tracks and "Take a Bow" is, WOW, no words can describe how terrific that track is. It's truly wonderful and needs to be a single. "Whatever it takes", "I'm you" and "Angel" have super backing music and as always Leona's voice is powerful. The only song I don't really like is "Homeless". I think the reason I don't like this song is because it sounds too much like Xtina Aguilera's "Hurt" which I think is a better song- no offence to Leona as she is wonderful. Wow! My hopes were high but this album exceeded them. Romance at Short Notice contains tracks with the same infectious, punchy, punk influenced flavour to be found on DPTs' debut album, but also introduces us to more complex medlodies and harmonies that we have not heard before from the band. There are many highlights but the stand out track for me is Buzzards and Crows, a 3 minute whirling roller coaster of a song reminiscent of Madness at their best. This album should herald the arrival of DPT's into the nation's conciousness, but it won't, because for some mystifying reason they seem to be judged too "indie?" for mainstream radio. That's a shame, but at least you'll never hear them in the fruit and veg aisle in Asda, and that's no bad thing!

For the die-hard Dolly fans i'm sure this is a 5/5 all the way but for me, a 28 year old casual Dolly fan its not quite perfect. The stand out tracks for me are definately the title-track Backwoods Barbie, Tracks of my Tears and I Will Forever hate Roses, which is classic Dolly Parton! The rest are very good with the exception of two. Jesus & Gravity is cringeworthy and I can't even listen to it all the way through and i'm surprised it made the album. Only Dreamin' is a very folksy song but very bland and again, i'm sure a lady of Dolly's talents has alot better than this. The Lonesomes is a great little blues number and Cologne is another of the heart-string pulling songs which she does so well. Overall, while ... Read More:
