I must say when I played this the first 5 times I was a bit disappointed with it compared to Plans and Translanticism....it wasn't as immediate.....but now the melodies have got into my soul......and I am now counting the days (12 !) till I see them live for the first time.....

Its a bit edgier than the previous two.....but thats a good thing.....

i'll be quick in what i have to say: this album is diverse. It has everything. some soulful tracks, some poppy-little-bit-commercial tracks and some pure street bass-heavy hip-hop.

best track on the album for me: A Milli (this is the heaviest track i've heard in a long time)

Hip-Hop is not dead.

'The Red Album' is weezer's masterpiece so far. Don't let it fool you that the opener 'Troublemaker' is an archetype of the dynamic and melodic power rock known so well from earlier releases, 'cause what follows adds new and surprising dimensions to weezer's style. The second track 'The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations On A Shaker Hymn)' plays with the surprised but spoiled listener in its style variations based on the same rough yet harmonious theme and is, in my opinion, not only weezer's best composition ever, but no less than one of the most surprising, catchiest and simply... best rock songs released in years!

Yes, you read right: weezer goes from straight-forward melodic rock craftmanship to boasting out their musical talents in touching ... Read More:

If you've grown up being trapped in the car with your parents music selection... plus also enjoy music with a good rock beat and decent lyrics, this will be for you!
I was very impressed by the range of years, actually decades, covered here.
There are some fillers, as others have mentioned, but all tracks have enough rhythm and beats to keep you awake on long journeys.
For those who are skipping some of the tracks, maybe you've just become accustomed to your own varied listening threshold - fortunately mine has built up over many years and memories of times, people (especially my family's favourites) and places came flooding back. A Great All-Rounder - I'd recommend for around the house cleaning, tidying up as well as in the car! Have been looking for ... Read More:

All i say is that this is quite possibly the most perfect, surreal movie ever created. Me and my friend Stephen Kane sat and watched it seven times and never got bored. We know all the songs and the words "What time is iiiitt??"

I 100% recommend this movie, it made my life.

Fellow vintage mettlers Deep Purple kept us waiting 6 years for the pretty indifferent Bananas, so 10 years after Sonic Origami, I approached this new Heep studio album with some trepidation.

No worries! This is utterly stonking stuff that compares well with Heep's best material from their 70's heyday!

Throughout, the venerable Mr Box's guitar work is very much to the fore. OK so he's not the fastest guitarist there is, but no-one does that dirty strangled sound better than Mick and he really lets rip on this collection. Some pretty nimble riffs too - notably in the opening (title) track. Other highlights for me and songs which I'm sure will become live Heep classics, are the thumpingly brilliant Book of Lies, the magnificent epic What Kind of God, ... Read More:

I discovered Jason Mraz's music by accident after hearing a sample of it on the internet about 3 years ago and I fell in love with it. He has an amazing voice, writes very clever lyrics and his music really stood out to me from a lot of the other musical dross that's too prevalent nowadays. In particular, I love his album "Mr A-Z" which I think is fantastic and, contrary to what some of the other people who've written reviews here have said about it, I think it's his best album. I was so excited when We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things came out and rushed out to buy it. However, having listened to it a few times now I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with it and it hasn't lived up to my high expectations of his music. He can do a lot better than this! Most of the songs are ... Read More:

I would give this a 4.5 if i could, but being a mathematician I have learned always to round up, therfore it gets the 5 star treatment.
Opens up beautifully and sets the tone for the next 4 tracks.
Mykanos is the stand out track for me and the highlight when I saw them live also.
Basically I would recommend anyone to buy this as I really cannot see what there is to dislike, the harmonies are perfect and the landscapes created by the lyrics are beautiful. Probably stronger than the album but you should just buy both anyway.
That's all I have to say about that.

PS if you get chance to see them live do it. Now

I really tried to like this recording, but try as I did, I found it deeply disappointing.
The covers are really a bit too twee for me, and verge on taking on the "look how clever we are" stance.
I do not doubt the musicianship one bit, but I think they could of done better. The Ukulele Club De Paris for instance on their album "Manuia" offer a more vibrant, imaginative and original approach without a sellout to smugness.
Also worth a listen is the hugely talented (ukulele player) Janet Klein And Her Parlour Boys, Petty Booka, The Asylum street Spankers, Roy Smeck, Cliff Carlisle, Tom Marion, Bob Brozman and good old Tiny Tim.
