Josh Groban has an absolutely beautiful voice - a singer that steps on the line between baritone and tenor. It's quite an experience to listen to, and I got his album upon hearing great reviews from my friends who'd listened to him in America beforehand. Check him out, he is indeed very good. He has a very relaxing, lullaby-like tone - in a nutshell.

This is a compilation of Christmas songs, but, I (and hopefully, you) can listen to them any time of year - they're very relaxing. :)

This one took quite a few listenings before I began to realise the strength of some of the lyrics and the emotional power of just about every track.
Some don't like the strong presence of female vocals - personally I love this especially on 'Alexandra Leaving' and 'Here it is'.
I love this album and think others who know Cohen's work will too - and hopefully, many others who don't know his work will hereby get to know it.

I notice one of the tags for this album is 'music'. Yeah!
Coldplay, whadda they sound like?
well, sort of... music, really.
Whoo! I got to get me some of that!
Yes, it's the sonic equivalent of watching paint dry...

I'm sorry. I don't HATE this stuff. But that's the point... it's so WET. When did people like this get to masquerade as rock musicians? It's bad for you. Your children will grow up thinking this is what a rock band sounds like. Zeppelin who? no, I wanna listen to the guys who go "waaa.. waa... I'm sad and feeble..." When there's the likes of Gutter Twins, Aquila, Rufus Wainwright and The Veils out there barely making a dent, you should not be spending your money and valuable time on this.

I brought this album for one purpose and one purpose only 'Let's Stay Together'
I didn't know who sang it because I was an 80's baby raised in the 90's it was before my time, but eventually found out that Al did.
After owning this album 2 months now I have been gripped by Al's presents on the mic, I now have 15 favorite songs on the album, they don't call it greatest hits for nothing!!
I feel so strongly about this album because when ever I hear it, it just makes me feel good, I literally have a smile on my face throughout the album!!
I have an ultimate favorite, but it was hard to pick with great songs like 'Simply Beautiful' 'Sha La La' 'Tired of Being Alone' and 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart' getting in the way, but ... Read More:

1) One Of Your Favourite Albums.
2) A Guilty Pleasure.

Seriously. A lot of people hate Hannah Montana thinking its a stupid kids show when look at the fantastic music.

The album starts with "We Got The Party", which is upbeat, and you will soon know everyword. Then comes "Nobodys Perfect", a frequent song on the show, and is more poppy than an explosion. Taking a break from pop comes "Make Some Noise", although having rock style is actually a slower ballad. But then it hits you-"Rockstar"-fast, addictive catchy. But "Old Blue Jeans" is a repititive-but GOOD song-how do I describe it? Electrical...Im not sure...But buckle up for "Lifes What You Make It", which has ''I should of been on the first album'' written all over ... Read More:

I bought this set largely on word-of-mouth recommendation after I heard and greatly enjoyed a cover-performance of one of Jake Thackray's songs.

The songs talk of love and life and are touching with an engaging boy-next-door earthiness. I can see why Jake Thackray has a cult following. Some of his songs are humourous in a mouth-twitching kind of way, although the meek melodies and sparsity of presentation lead the listener to lean heavily on the lyrics. However, to the uninitiated some of it may be a little inaccessible and, for someone so reliant on lyrics, dare I say it, on occasion pointless.

I feel that Jake Thackray's appeal would have lain especially within his live performances and unfortunately this is now no longer possible ... Read More:

Why oh why have I only just discovered this wonderful man? I have been listening solidly all day to Over the Rainbow and Kaulana Kawaihae, and can't get enough! Both tracks are just so moving, especially knowing Iz is no more. I still have to listen to the other tracks! I have already orderd another cd and that will not be the last. What a shame he wasn't more widely known. Tell everyone about this amazing talent.

That cover pic: the radiance in those eyes, and that smile! Wow, Joan: so glad to have you back, dear friend.
The flowers on the cd, the warm heart of a kindred spirit, that never-aging how-could-one-forget soprano. The deep humanity and universality, too.
By the time the first spin of this cd was through, a 6 or 7 lyric file had been compiled.

Here, amidst all the useless political squabble over our handkerchief-sized Belgium, we've never ceased to find truth in your words ever since the sixties, driving 'the Old Dixie down', strumming along to your Dylan tunes or 'putting the load right on me myself and I'.
An ode to that fragile planet and that precious inner peace that our kind has been craving for for so long, a wistful homecoming, ... Read More:

First thing i have to say is that this release is truly perfect , a work of art,in fact, that is worth every penny .And i'm not even talking about the music yet !
From the evocative photo which adorns the front cover (taken at a Stax session in the 60's) , to the colours , typography and design of the track listing on the back and the extensive hard-back booklet with tons of info and facts on all the artists and songs it is so obvious that lots of care, attention and hard work has gone into this release by everyone concerned , it's a real labour of love . Thank you.
And , of course , there's the actual music itself .......
OK , i'm biased . Soul is my true love when it comes to music and , specifically , soul of the Southern variety .I was pretty much certain to ... Read More:
