A masterpiece of classic singing in the old style of the 30s with heart braking lyrics that comes together in surely the album of the year. Amy Winehouse is a tortured soul who falls madly in love, and then gets dumped. Not a happy story, but inspiration for most of her songs. That and drugs feature strongly. Her emotion is raw, her lyrics are powerful, and her songs are catchy. Buy this now and you will not be disappointed.

The kooks' second album was always going to be extremely difficult. The task in hand was to prove the critics wrong, maybe do something a bit different so as not to be labelled 1-trick ponies, and most importantly to keep the massive fan base which they had built on the back of their debut 'inside in/inside out'. Whether they have achieved any of these is debatable. The album starts out in promising fashion with the two guitars being used in `see the sun' infusing together to make a catchy, instantly lovable pop-rock track which forces you to come back for another listen. The voice is the first thing you notice. The early poetic renditions on such classics as "Suzanne", "Sisters of Mercy" and "Famous Blue Raincoat" are presented in a voice that is deadpan but not as gruff as in later years. This was at a period when he was a well kept secret and with a style and presentation that not everyone took to. Move onto disc 2 and you notice how the voice deepens and the songs become bigger. One thing that Cohen has never failed to deliver is quality songs with curious stories to tell. He has an almost hymn-like or gospel touch on a lot of his work, usually enhanced by superb backing singers and wondrous musicians and arrangements. As a long-time fan of Journey, I was a bit worried about this release. But like other fans, I was bowled over by the new material, by the superb new vocalist Arnel Pineda, and by the re-recording of some Journey classics with their new singer. Pineda's voice is very like Steve Perry's - Perry has a purer vocal and a slightly greater range, but both are great voices, so comparing is not really an issue. Pineda makes the new material his own and the band plays superbly. He also handles the older material with some style - Journey have their classic sound back and it's an exciting prospect for the future. I first heard of Bob Marley when watching I Am Legend at the cinema, and liked what I heard so I looked him up on Amazon and liked the preview tracks, and all the 16 (at the time) 5 star ratings said it all! So I bought it and when I first played it I didn@t like it, can you believe that, but when I played it a second time and each time (I can't stop playing it now!) I get bowled over - if you are a new comer like me - give it a chance - it's brilliant! Well worth the money!

I bought this album because I loved 'Black and Gold'. However, I was very disappointed. That track and the first one on the album are the only ones worth listening to. Sam Sparrow whitters on and on throughout the rest of the album and it is real rubbish. Don't waste your money. Sorry Sam, but you have to do better than this.

Mmmmm. Guess what? She ain't as good as they make out. The album isn't that hot either. It's okay, but it's not the Eight Wonder Of The World we were expecting. Once again, another bunch of unworthy millionaires are made thanks to the great British public. An average album, but not actually that much to recommend it.

The 28 tracks on this wonderful double CD are drawn from a series of 23 Ethiopiques albums put together by the inspirational French promoter Francis Falceto. This haunting, uplifting music which is an intriguing mixture of jazz, soul, funk & folk was created and recorded in Ethiopia during the final years of Emperor Haile Selassie's reign(1930-74). 'The Very Best of Ethiopiques' has been described as "doing for Ethiopia what the Buena Vista Social Club did for Cuba" and this marvellous music certainly deserves to reach the widest possible audience.

This is a good CD with some catchy songs on it, but they can get a bit boring after a while. But it still has some catchy songs on it, so i'm giving it 5 stars.

Ok first off yes this can be seen as a con re-releasing an album but for me i had not bought the original album of Good Girl Gone Bad and im sure others have not either so im going to do a proper review on the album and not saying its a con etc Ok so whats different about the album you ask? 3 new songs: Take a bow Disturbia If i never see your face again All amazing songs in my opinion! My fave being Disturbia out of them, great dance song and very catchy i was hooked to it from first listen! You get 16 songs on this album: Umbrella: Lets face it everyone has heard this song with it being number 1 for 10 weeks! Its still a great song but not the best on the album! 8/10 Push Up On Me: ...
