I listen to an expansive range of musical styles and ages, from "The Classics" right through to Metal. Now I'm not calling myself an expert in the field by any means, but you can usually get a gut feeling pretty quickly about the effort, imagination and skill put into any work - and this album, from the first listen - give you audio pleasure at every turn. It just oozes skillfull musicianship and beautifully crafted harmonies. The type of work that will always be considered a classic and will always be replayed by the listener over and over again. Fantastic, fanastic, fantastic! I was fortunate to be present at this concert and was even more fortunate to be almost within 'plucking' distance of Bri's guitar strings... even made several guest appearances!!! A truly brilliant concert... probably the best I have ever attended. I have been a Queen fan for many years a Paul Rodgers one (Free & Bad Company) for even longer. Like many people have said (Brian & Roger included) Paul was never going to be a replacement for Dear old Freddie and he never tries to be. Instead he puts his own mark on the Queen material and it works extremely well. A must buy DVD... fantastic!

This is an album that shows a band in transition. You can see plenty of signs of the Beatles song writing maturity such as Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Girl and In My Life. These songs show how the band were growing up quickly as their fame grew and it's remarkable how willing they were to display their thoughts and feelings in their songs. John sounds positively menacing in Run For Your Life, with lyrics a far cry from the band's cheeky chappy image. There also plenty of the brilliant pop songs of the type that made the band's name with like Drive My Car and Michelle. George contributes two songs- If I Needed Someone is the better. Not only is someone on the wrong website, it seems they're on the wrong planet! Last time I looked we were talking about the companion CD to David Essex's `All The Fun Of The Fair' musical...not descending into a vitriolic attack on one of our oldest minority ethnic communities. For good or bad, this is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinions but please express them in an appropriate forum i.e. not this one! For the record, this is a great collection of Essex material old and new and, while a full cast recording would still be welcome at some point, acts as a perfect reminder of a splendid theatrical event. David has much to be proud of both with the show and the songs on this CD. He has always been sorely under-rated ... Read More:

Coming back to this album after many years without hearing it, I'm struck by the complexity of the songs, the wit and emotion of the lyrics and the sheer quality of the musicianship. If anyone tries to tell you that The Who were overrated, play them this album. Just from the opening song 'The Real Me', you hear the most extraordinary rhythm-section in rock as Moon and Entwistle lock in and syncopate more tightly and intensely than they ever had before, and it's right at the front of the mix! The slicing of Townshend's guitar and Daltrey's raw vocal almost feel like afterthoughts. But everyone is operating at the peak of their ability. Personally, my favourite song is 'Sea and Sand'. I got this before going to see Van Morrison Live at Symphony Hall. The CD made up for the lack of known songs sung by Van in his live performance. It was a strange affair, he did not speak to the audience and performed a very self indulgant show. However I can't fault the CD it is great.

Coming just 2 years after Taylor's last album of covers songs (James Taylor at Christmas, itself a reissue of the 2004 Hallmark James Taylor Xmas Cd) and a year after the unplugged live album, this new album again highlights how indifferent Taylor's career has been. Once memorably described as a purveyor of counter culture melodies, Taylor never recaptured the heights of his Sweet Baby James album of 1970. The rest of the '70's saw Taylor settle into an easy pattern of having hits with other peoples songs whilst having very few self penned hits (and this guy was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame??!!) Quite how he's managed to sustain a career over 40 years is anyone's guess but the guy must have some pretty good publicists who are to spin some rubblish to the media ... Read More:

I saw the show in October, The Four Seasons were way behind my time but the show and this recording are what will bring the band's great music back and to younger generations. The soundtrack is one of the best cast recordings I have ever heard, I play my favourite songs from it everyday and dance around like a loon! It has an amazing feel good factor to it, they sound a lot like The Four Seasons but there's a freshness about the music too which coming from a younger generation appeals to me more than the original recordings of Franki Valli and The Four Seasons.
