Abba's final studio album tends to divide opinion, but for me it was a fine way for them to finish thier active recording career together.
'One Of Us' was Abba's last major international hit and is probably the best known track here. The follow up song in the UK was 'Head Over Heels' which shocked everyone by peaking outside the UK top 20.
Was it all over for Abba?. Well, in terms of major hit singles it certainly was (in the US 'When All Is Said And Done' flopped also), but this album gave us a few treats and an indication of where Benny and Bjorns musical interests were going (ie musical theatre).
The title track is a mighty song that I always thought could have been a massive hit in it's own right. 'Soldiers' is a lovely ... Read More:

The best most energetic, album I've heard for years.
been playing this album time after time and after over 100 plus listens it gets better and better.

The '59 Sounds rocks. Don't miss out on this one.

Really looking forward to seeing them live in Manchester in 3 weeks.

Five stars really isn't enough.

As Jon Landau said, 'I've heard the future of Rock and Roll....'

Michael Jackson helped out alot on this album by designing a new CD lacquoring process. This made it possible for him to give his free copies of this album back to Madonna without her seeming to notice. Of course Madonna being a bit wise and very old didn't really know what CDs are and now always looks confused. The 'immaculation collection' actually refers to the immaculate homogenised grey appearance of collected belly button fluff despite it originating from garments of differing colouration.

I have been a big fan of Ben Folds since hearing uncle walter back in 1995, so i feel well placed to comment on this latest effort. I have never been compelled to review on amazon before but having read the other reviews here i feel someone needs to bring some sense to the argument!

Firstly, those who feel this album is crass have clearly only been into ben folds since the release of songs for silverman. Had they listened to any of his other albums, they would realise that his witty, un-pc style is exactly what makes ben who he is...one of the best songwriters of our generation. I'm also guessing these people werent exactly into b****s aint s**t either! If they dont like it - nobody is forcing them to listen.

So, on to my review! ... Read More:

This is by-far my favourite stereophonics album:
Superman: This is my all time favourite, it kick starts the album with a really catchy tune, the words though such as "Superman on an aeroplane sitting next to louis lane" is not anything i can relate to lol, but i just love Kelly's vocals it shows the strength his voice can go.
Doorman: Now this song i wasnt struck on when i first got the album, i thought it was a little too heavy with the rock n roll, but after playing the album over and over it has grown on me - i love the chorus where the guitar breaks down and Kelly's voice takes over, this song has got attitude!
Brother: i dont like the verses to this song but i love the chorus another rocky song.
Devil: Another all time favourite of mine!!! ... Read More:

A great album gathering all the big hits.
Although some classic Commodores tracks are missing such as 'I Feel Sanctified'.
There is another Compilation with all of their funky tracks although these are only the short versions.
There should be a companion CD of long lost 12" and extended remixes.
Surely 'Nightshift' was released after Lionel Richie had left the Commodores, and so it has no place on one of his albums?

It pains me to say it, but after much time spent genuinely trying to like this album and find some quality in it I have to say its dissapointing. It's not terrible by any stretch but its just bland. Like so many have stated before me it just fails to live up to previous works, I mean it really dosen't sit with the others at all. It feels like a tired re-working of previous efforts and themes. Maybe 'Live' some of these tracks may jump out, but I feel doubtful when you know the likes of Mr.Jones, Round Here, Long December, Mrs. Potters Lullaby are coming. The Crows are and probably will always be one of my favourite bands and I know the depths this band can take you to, but I guess Im growing up a little at 30! but I don't know if this band is growing with me. It took six yrs for ... Read More:

Reviewing a best-selling, immensely popular album over 30 years after it was released is a bit like trying to evaluate Marmite. It's been around for ages, you know that people will always buy it, but everyone either loves it or hates it already, and there's little point trying to change their minds.

For me, Rumours is just about the best album ever made, and 'Go Your Own Way' is my favourite song, my desert island disc, the one that still sends a shiver up my spine and makes me smile and / or cry (or both) every time I hear it. Part of that is down to memories of earlier times evoked by the music (it just sounds like it came from better days, whether it really did or not); part of it is down to a knowledge of the intricate human relationships within the band and the messages ...
