Of all the introspective styled singer-songwriters of the early seventies Carole King would perhaps seem a most unlikely candidate to adopt that genre - after all her success was at its peak a decade earlier when she was predominantly a songwriter alongside her husband Gerry Goffin penning a great many fondly remembered classics aimed at the teen market. Fortunately, her forte had always been strong melodies and 'Tapestry', her second album is no exception although its style is more intimate than the style of her early career.
Actually, it's not unrealistic to regard 'Tapestry' as one of only a handful of truly great albums because there are very few albums that are so consistently great from start to finish without the odd filler. 'Tapestry' ... Read More:

James Morrison reminds me of Terence Trent Derby with his distinctive vocals and cut down style, very few musical instruments, often just acoustic guitar and drums.Echoes of Stevie Wonder and chords and melodies that have a passing resemblance to other artists' songs complete the mix.I really like this album but it wasn't one that i liked first time of hearing. It's an album you need to play and let it grow on you. It's a little raw and naive in places and a little like a live recording of a busker on a city street corner. No bells and whistles, just a guy relying and believing in his talent. This gives it some originality and credit to James Morrison on producing a stunning album that may not be for everyone but will be enjoyed by most.Recommended.

As a fan of there first album I bought this album when it first came out, listened to it once and said "What is this? It sounds like ELO on crack. RUBBISH!!" And so didn't listen to it for ages. However i found it again the other day so listened to it once again. My reaction this time was "What is this? It sounds like ELO on crack. GREAT!!" I always find the things that take a while to like usually stay with you for longer. Good Album!

i loved this album. from the first listen i was transported to another world and gladly let rev take the reins.
i would suggest listening on an ipod as the music is definately better with full focus not just background noise.
mercury rev are a band with an individual sound, fantastic!

I know that this band has influences from Coldplay and Keane, but they are much better than those bands in my opinion. I thought Keane's singles from the last album were great, especially Crystal ball, so I think this is more like the new Keane than the old Keane. Although I think OneRepublic is their own individual band and maybe they shouldn't be compared.
When I first heard this band's song re-mixed by Timbaland, I wasn't expecting the band to do any solo songs because I thought it was sort of organised by Timblalnd, but it turns out that Timbaland re-mixed OneRepublic's version of Apologize and made it sound better. There was just something about that song that attracted me to the band. When Stop and stare was first released, it took me a while to realise just ... Read More:

First things first. Sgt Pepper is not a concept or themed album. 3 of the 13 songs are vaguely based on the theme of the Beatles "playing" at being an old time band (including a reprise of the title song) and some of the music is continuous between songs. The rest of the songs are unrelated so why is the album so often described as groundbreaking? Listen to it and you will find out. The band and producer George Martin produced a remarkable album that at times is unashamedly experimental.

It is probably best summed up in "A Day in the Life", where they really throw the kitchen sink at it. In the middle and at the end of the song an orchestra builds a wall of sound for what seems like forever, until a crescendo is reached. It sounds remarkable now, it must have ... Read More:

I really like the whimsical, slightly retro, ELO-inspired sound these lads create. I loved Goodbye Mr A and I liked Worried About Ray as singles so I was intrigued as to what the rest of the album would sound like.

The album as a whole is good, but not great. There are no other tracks which stand out to me, and it sounds rather generic, like a cross between ELO and The Feeling, which should be good, but this album does not really excite or inspire me, despite it being listenable.

...if you havnt heard of muse...please turn off your PC and jump off a cliff as your not worth living!
This CD/DVD is amazing !
like many others - I was at this gig. But i went to BOTH dates that weekend (16th and 17th) I had a seat for the saturday and i got RIGHT TO THE FRONT on the 17th (and was delighted to find out they were filming the DVD for that night!) I just WISH WISH WISH...Muse played 'microcuts' on the sunday instead of the saturday as its their BEST SONG BY FAR ! i went mental when they played it on the saturday. (as i had a bet with my mate who is the biggest muse fan ever - that they would play it) i won...and he had to eat his trainer!

(you can actually see me in this- and my parents laughed when they saw) lol
and this DVD will always be in ... Read More:
