this CD is really just another example of the music companies trying to fleece us the poor consumer. whilst the music of Billy Joel is superb in any format this best of is just a rehash of his Essential collection. unless you have a burning desire to own Scenes from an Italian Resteraunt and Only the Good Die young then i would seriously recommend 'The Essential Billy Joel' 36 tracks in all and 16 of them which you get on this album.

I bought POB on the strength of the reviews on here having never heard it (or heard of it) before and because I'm a big Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan. After several plays it still leaves me with mixed feelings. I admire much of the musical diversity of the tracks but often find the words hard to decipher (partly due to DW's diction and partly to the vocals often being set back in the mix) What the songs do have however is a soul-baring openess and honesty to them, which I think music should be about. POB is a worthwhile addition to an Beach Boy's collectors library but (at this stage) I cannot personally call it a 'classic' album. Listening on the ipod brings out more of the musics subtlety. i have the platinum collection which disc three has some good but some fillers eg remix wyclef jean version awfull truely!! and some other fillers they could easy do a double cd of queen like with pink floyd,led zeppelin,david bowie easy they could well my mam had this when i was a kid and i absoloutely loved them and still do if you like rock and dont have queen you dont have a rock collection simply!! its like if youre a soul lover not likeing aretha franklin or mahalia jackson or minnie riperton or stevie wonder etc buy this its fantastic all songs are fabalous!! happy listening

Power, Corruption and Lies is a wonderful New Order album, it is an album I love and is dearly treasured and important to me, and it is a crucial release in the development of the band as they slowly slip from the shadow and reputation of Joy Division and Ian Curtis. That said PCL's shape, form and sound - as it was designed by the band in 1983 - had a beauty, intergrity and structure. This 'new edition' of NO is flaccid and unnecessary, taking away from the masterpiece that was tightly conceptually executed all those years ago. Madonna scored some of the greatest songs in the 80's and many of them are placed on this compilation album...but these are remixed versions of the album versions. this is the greatest compelation album ever made...just a shame not all of her successful singles are captured here(whos that girl,true blue,oh father,over and over,and keep it together)but all the songs here are stunning. I can fully support the majority of positive comments in the more illustrious and learned reviews here. What I will add to this is that in my humble opinion, this was the first and best of the Steely Dan canon of work. There is not a bad or weak song on the album. I even think "Only A Fool Would Say That" is a great track. Steely Dan (that is Becker & Fagen) were renowned later for their meticulous approach to the body of work constructed, but for all the brilliance of tracks like "Peg", "Deacon Blue" et al, "Can't Buy A Thrill" was the definitive Steely Dan album. Discuss ?

I have been a fan for many years and own this album already on vinyl and cd.It is one of the classic albums of all time and I play it regularly,but this is no different in sound to any other format I have.If your going to sell it as something different you would at least expect SACD or DVD audio.

I went to see this at the theatre recently. It was fab! David Essex sounded as good as ever. ( Could look as good, if he shaved his beard off and grew his hair!!)This is a great CD for your collection. Takes you back in time!
