What a pity the one of the best voices there has ever been and what do they do sell you a SACD version which is only 2 channel.OK it sounds good but then again he would sound brilliant on a forty year old piece of kit,but whats the point in having a SACD player and a good 7:1 system and finishing up listening to stereo coming out of the front speakers.Basicaly this disc is a con.

The first hit single in the U K by Ray Charles was Georgia on my mid in 1960 and this disc made No 24.Charles was on a new label by then and the Atlantic sides while issued here meant nothing until the Age of Merseybeat. Hit the road Jack went top 5 and it was nothing but up from then with the Modern Sounds of Country & Western spawning a number of hit singles. Ray's earlier work on Swingtime began apperaing on a label called Society. This CD is a pretty comprehensive overview of the most essential recordings which include his Beatles covers and ends with his version of Imagine. The only way to watch this is with the sound turned down. The soundtrack is muffled and poorly dubbed. The storyline would bore a five year old and the girls voices had the sex appeal of Andy Pandy. Quite the most tedious film I have ever watched half of.

With Bryn Christopher, it's very much Gnarls Barkley meets Amy Winehouse. Some songs are dark, sensual and passionate while others manage to explode from the speakers in an array of delightful pop, soul, r n b and jazz. The opening single, Help Me is a fast paced bout of jazzed up dance which immediately gets the feet tapping, setting you up for the album's notoriously slick track lineup. And the haunting smilin' may remind fans of Gnarls Barkley's summer smash hit Crazy, especially with its cool drum beat, modest riff and insanely catchy hook. It would be wrong to say that I have a particular problem with this album, but I can't help but be disappointed for the following reasons: - This does indeed coincide with her tour, but there are songs in her set-list for the tour which are not on the album but are rarer and therefore should have been, (Typical Male for example) so I don't quite know how she worked it all out. - The only reason I was excited about this album was due to the "rare" live tracks; well, sadly, every single track apart from "Let's Stay Together" is already available on iTunes! Particularly, bitterly disappointing is the live "Addicted to Love" - come on! This version was on "Tina: All the Best" from 2004, AND "Tina Live in Europe", not to mention on her Live ... The later version of this album is even better, with the inclusion of "Hung Up", but all the tracks are great. Check out "The Weaver"....and the accompanying video! Where will we find meaning after Weller?......

I have no idea how well the movie "The Commitments" actually did in the UK, but I saw it when it opened here in Denmark twelve or thirteen years ago, and the soundtrack was a huge hit, not least with people of my generation who usually didn't listen to 60s soul music (I was about 18 at the time). This is a wonderful colletion of gritty soul and R&B with a bluesy edge, the arrangements, which include trumpet and two saxophones, are muscular but never overblown. Teenaged Joe Cocker-soundalike Andrew Strong is terrific on powerful soul stompers like "Mustang Sally", "In The Midnight Hour", and "Take Me To The River", and Angeline Ball and the predominantly female backing group share the lead vocals on equally great renditions of "Chain Of Fools" and "I Can't Stand The ... It's becoming almost an annual event to churn out a Prince Greatest Hits album now. The annoying thing about that is that there's not much different about any of them. They usually contain at least 10 tracks similar to the previous effort and never have anything from the Batman album. Batdance was a huge hit I recall. This "Ultimate" album has the novelty factor of some extended remixes (basically the old 12" singles). Overall though, this compilation is lacking and doesn't show off enough of the great man's versatility. It's the safe option for the casual fan.

If you want a collection of some of the best ever R&B songs, compressed into 2 CDs then this is definitely one of the best collections around. However, this is a variety of R&B from the last 15 years - so don't buy this if you're expecting the latest R&B songs to fill both CDs. Usually on a double CD you'll find a handful of "filler" songs, but this isn't the case on Chilled R&B - they're all great examples. Great music for relaxing to at the weekend and highly recommended.

This album should just not work..... but it does. I had the same feeling when the Scissor Sisters covered one of my all time favourites... Comfortably Numb, I wanted to hate it, but the version was so good I couldn't. The one track I dont like is Pretty Green, but apart from that I loved the originals of these tracks and in some cases I like the covers even more. The highlight (not the obvious Amy Winehouse track) is Stop me, how you can merge the Smiths into 90's dance music, I dont know?..... Mark Ronson does!
