Definitely the reissue of the year for me so far. This is a timeless, deeply soulful, uplifting and natural sounding album. Should have a wide appeal for non-reggae fans too, there are no dubs, effects or guitar solos and crosses many musical genres. If you like Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On", dive straight in, it's that good...

This is roots harmony at its very best. The Wailing Souls at the top of their game! Though their Studio One offerings take some beating, the vocal subtleties of this Joe Higgs inspired quartet are showcased here with uplifting effect. Self-produced and backed by the likes of Sly Dunbar on drums, Ranchie McLean on bass and a peerless horn-section led by Vin Gordon, Rico Rodriguez and "Deadly" Headly Bennett, this is surely a seminal album. As a vinyl purist it's torture to see the dub vesions on this new CD release that were left off the original Island LP in 1979. If you love roots rockers and don't already own this, what are you waiting for? Put on "Feel the Spirit", fire one up and get with the Wailing Souls. Brilliant!

Ok, like most people I loved "It wasn't me" so when I went on a school trip I had some spending money and picked up this album to listen to on the coach home, It was brilliant and catchy listened to it for a few week and put it away. I recently rediscovered this and I have to say it is the best album I have ever heard, its got the up beat songs and the slower songs. But best of all it is the CD for players! If you are about to go out on a date and your nervous put this CD on it will make you feel invinsible. I cannot reccomend it enough! Buy it now!

I love Joe Gibbs productions, the heavy bass reminds me of the 1970s vibe so well. Reggae just does not sound like this anymore. I remember visiting my aunt as a little boy in 1978 and she had this track "Hole in the bucket" by Kojak and Liza. My aunt was ecstatic about that track. She loved rude innuendo. My mom was quite displeased with it but I quietly sat thinking that I would never hear that track again; well I'm nearly 40 and it is now available on CD. So Greensleeves continue to bring back good memories to help people who have forgotten when music made you laugh, smile, blush and of course dance!
