Having heard of editors but not knowing much about them i embarked upon eurockeennes de belfort festival 2007, midday on the second day and on came Editors, the set started well and i was instantly impressed with the quality of the live performances, as the set continued i felt being drawn into their sound and by the end i was impressed enough to order this album as soon as i got home. Also, another thing that impressed me was the fact that the lead singer came into the crowd with the public after their set to watch queens of the stoneage. The album is very good with some instant hooks and some songs that gradually grow on you, the sound is very unique for the time and although i can see similarities to JD i think it is unfair to labour them ... This is a good collection of Simon & Garfunkel's wonderful work, and a good place to start if unfamiliar with their music. However, I prefer their double disc 'Tales From New York'. That collection expands on what is here, particularly including some of their important early stuff, and is a better representation of the diversity of their music.

Personally I'm sick and tired of people harping on about how great this album is, yeah O.K. it's not bad but there are millions of far better albums out there in all kinds of genres, check out some Drum and Bass on the Hospital Records label like "high contrast" and you will see what I mean, and no I'm not a young hoodie I'm in my forties. Sorry Pink it's too outdated now.

A good album if youre a casual Led Zep fan and are just getting in to them but if you want to hear the great Led Zeppelin you'll have to buy all 3 definitive Led zep cd's.

I must admit that I don't know if I completely understand this music (yet?). It's kind of like new age Pink Floyd with an Icelandic twist. The reason I say that is because it has such a broad expanse of sound which I do like. I must admit the middle of the album is really worth buying it for - there is such a lot going on it's awesome. However on the down side I feel that some of the tracks are a bit long and seem to have these very strange endings where a load of odd unrelated sounds seem to be tagged on as an after thought. Apart from that it has really grown on me and I think if you like something a bit out of the norm then this may well be for you.

i love the carpenter's ! it's just pure easy listening, calm and classic album ! when u just want to relax in the bath, take 5 mins from a stressed day this is the album you should choose.

Hmmmm. No one seems to have mentioned the production. It is pretty poor. Really takes the edge off what could be a great album. It's quite muddy - I've tried listening to it on various devices but it's definitely erm, cheap.

It just amazes me each time I listen to this album. The enormous talent. The versatility. The sheer inventiveness. It follows a succession of albums that have got better and better. I was so taken aback by Origin of Symmentry and when I saw Muse live I was so speechless at how talented Matthew Bellamy is. But this album..... It's everything about it. You can hear the orchestral basis for so many of these songs translated into unbelievable howling guitars. The powerful and poignant lyrics. The inventiveness. See them live when you can and see how amazing this band is. They are incredible.

A really excellent Kinks collection. The whole CD drips with classy recordings from a hugely influential band. The price is a steal, the quality is uncompromising. A treasure trove of innovative British music, full of songs that surely require little or no introduction. The Kinks made some superb music & a good cross section can be found here - you really would be barking mad not to get this, it's just ideal !
