After hearing A-Punk what sane music lover couldn't want this album?

But with few tracks being as fun or catchy I was slightly disappointed. The album failed to make me bop continuously for the 34.2 minutes like i was expecting instead bringing out a slightly less catchy side. It's still listenable... Just not as listenable as I wanted it to be.

I'd give it a 7/10 in all.

An extreme dissapointment from a band I've loved for years. They've gone for lush ambient sounds this time with echoey vocals on top that float aimlessly around and get nowhere. It's tuneless and dull. The only thing I will take my hat off to them for is that they've tried something different (with exception of Hello Blackbird maybe!?!) but for me it isn't a good result.

for those interested, the free download album "Strange Attractor", which is available from mercury rev's home page isn't much cop either, mainly ambient off-cuts from Snowflake Midnight by the sounds of things.

All in all then, wasn't worth the wait, save your cash.

This compilation album needs little introduction as it has sold a zillion copies or something ;), and there is a reason for that. Nobody, not even The Beatles have created a finer collection of pop songs. Pop is often sneered at by some hoity toity music lovers, but there is no need. A finely crafted 3 minute pop tune can be just as meaningful and exquisite as any other piece of music. The tunes Bjorn & Benny created will live on forever, and the girls singing stays in your mind so very easily.

For me this is not their ultimate collection, as I liked more of the bitter-sweet songs they did like Eagle and The Day Before You Came. But that's a personal preference. This compilation contains all the biggest hits, including some of the camp/hi ... Read More:

How JB got to be voted best blues guitarist 2 years in succession is beyond me--he's good, but if you want superb, seek out the work of Derek Trucks. On some of his own band discs he's a little jazzy for some,I guess,so try the Allman Brothers Band's One Way out, where you'll not only get the wunderkind DT,but also Warren Hayes, another Hall of Fame alumni.I don't think Amazon offer this disc, but the "alternate suppliers" do,and it can be very reasonably priced. It's not for nothing that they are considered the best damned live band in the world, and once you try this, you'll be saying "joe Bonamassa?Ho hum!"One Way Out: Live at The Beacon Theatre

Been listening to this all morning having obtained a preview copy. Not subtle but certainly catchy - the sort of indie pop Super Furry Animals were doing about ten years ago. Perhaps should have been released during the summer (what we had of it) - it has that sort of breezy feel that demands the volume on max and the windows wound down. Previous review mentions Oasis and Coldplay - Kaiser Chiefs not at all in the same category as the latter and certainly without the pretensions of the Gallagher brothers. 4/5 really but giving 5 to balance out the overly harsh 1 star reviews. Recommended.

I just want to reiterate how good this album is. Other reviewers sum up perfectly the reasons why this album is Mogwai's piece de resistance in their career so far. The soundtrack to Zidane offered hints that the band may be evolving towards this collection of tracks. When the composition is this good, lyrics are not needed. The fusion of guitar work, subtle instrumentals and layering of sounds is like aural tirami'su. There's a fantastic mix of reflective (Dapnhe and the Brain) and heavy guitar work (BatCat) but the whole album is excellent and it's one of those albums which makes you get up and press play again and again. How good is this album? I have over 300 albums and this is one of my top 5. For me, it's Mogwai's best work to date and moves me every time ... Read More:

Having gotten fairly familiar with the album, then leaving it for a while to make sure it wasn't post-release enthusiasm, I can now honestly say that I believe this is the band's best effort since their debut. While every Slipknot album has its faults, even that oh-so-precious classic first assault, those on All Hope... are less immediately obvious, and certainly nowhere near as off-putting as they were on the previous two records. And unlike the previous two records, you'll find more to praise than dismiss.

For a start, I tend to skip on past previous singles "Left Behind" and "Vermillion Pt. 1", and mercifully, there is no such track on here. Sure, "Dead Memories" and "Snuff" rank amongst the bands less sonically abrasive material, but there is a certain maturity ... Read More:

Nineteen of ABBA's best songs are plenty, but you won't tire of them. It is amazing that four Swedes (Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus as writers and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog as the main singers) could take such simple English cliches and turn them into pop music magic. Despite sometimes maddeningly simple lyrics, the song arrangements were unnervingly catchy and the multi-level layered compostions are fascinating. The keyboards and synthesizers were used in some of the more ingenious ways during the seventies to produce that unmistakeable ABBA sound. The energy and nearly anthemic enthusiasm eminating from each song marked them all as instant classics, no matter how jaded or synical the listener. It is doubtlful if you read the song list here ... Chad Kroeger is a song writing genious. Not, of course, for ANY of the right reasons, but because he has a truly remarkable ability to churn out some of the most pathetic songs ever recorded and still sell millions of records. For this he deserves credit - in the same way Hitler deserves credit for tricking Europe into allowing him to rise to power.

It is not an exxaggeration in any way to describe Nickelback as the worst band ever. Chad Kroeger is the most listener-insultingly abysmal lyricist that I have ever heard. Before you pre-pubescent fans jump to his defence, I have evidence, in the form of some lines from the album:

"She'd be pissed if she could see the parts of you that I've been kissing"

"It's just a little hard to leave/When you're going ... Read More:
