Everyone knows the theme. But music lovers know that John Williams belts out the most memorable scores around. Between Star Wars, Superman, E.T. and Indiana Jones he has done some of his best work. I already own the released soundtracks and they are all great but as per usual when you watch the films you think why was that piece not included. When they finally, after years of waiting, got round to releasing the complete Star Wars CD's they were fantastic, and it was all there. Even though I already own all the Indiana Jones OST's I shall still be buying this. Those little snippets previously unreleased are just the lost treasure Indy himself would be after. If you're reading this review and thinking about buying this album stop reading this review and get your charge card out. This is, bar none, the best compilation album I've ever come across. I'm shamed to admit I was unfamiliar with many of the tracks and artists until I saw the film. In hindsight I now understand the magnitude of the gaping whole this was in the development of my muscial appreciation. A vista of 70's soul-funk really opened up for me post-Jackie-Brown.

The first solo album and a great epic championed to a rock audience by the greatly missed Alan "Fluff" Freeman. Good themes with lots of monk style cloister vocals, scary synth effects and three absolute highlights: the Jon Anderson sung "So long ago so clear" -one of the very best songs he has ever written (and I am counting all his Yes classics) and sung - beautiful. The other stand outs are a galloping synth theme which has a Ride of the Valkries type feel and the main theme itself. There is a great atmosphere throughout moving from themes of dread and joy echoing the work with his previous 60s group on the classic 666. One of the best films I've ever seen. I first caught up with it late one night in the 90's and have been itching to watch it gain ever since. I found the content realistic and with little censorship made me face up to what really went on in the 1800's rather than being pampered with the traditional Hollywood take on events.

Before watching Sharpe I had never heard of John Tams, and quite frankly my music collection was the poorer for it! This album is a fantastic mix of score from the shows and traditional folk songs of the period performed by Tams and his mate Barry Coope with an amazing guest performance from the wonderful Kate Rusby. A must have for all fans of John Tams, Kate Rusby, Sharpe and great British folk music! Nar x

I bought this cd because I liked track number 10 "Dice" when I heard it played on the OC tv programme, though I can't say that I'll remember anything on this cd apart from "Dice" in ten years time.And I found that I got fed up listening to this cd after a few days - the music sounds old-fashioned (reminds me of the 1960s for some reason),the guitar music was awful on some tracks - no clear individual notes or chords (these dudes and dudettes aren't Mark Knopfler playing Sultans of Swing or Romeo and Juliette,for example).If this is the best mix from the OC I would advise people to steer clear of the others.And don't let the poor quality of the music on this cd detract you from buying the dvds of the tv programme which is as good as people say it is.

Classic soundtrack. This album has everything. Kenny Loggins establishes himself as the master of powerful, catchy 80s cheese with the immense Danger Zone and fun-as-you-like Playing With The Boys. Berlin's Take My Breath Away is possibly THE greatest ballad of all time. Harold Faltermeyer's Top Gun Anthem is about as moving a piece of music can be. A must have.

I live in the U.S., and have not been able to see the show, but I'm a big Ruthie Henshall fan, so have read a lot about it and have heard clips of a few songs. The music is beautiful, and the songs are heart-wrenching. It's especially helpful to have the printed lyrics, to understand what's going on and the emotion behind it. I love it!

Program's cool, so is the OST. I love the theme at the end, and Missy's hot boy's rocks! Moloko is brilliant and the rest are pretty good too ~ you won't stop plying it!
