Without doubt one of the all-time great film scores, Kilar's majestic minimalist work is without parallel. Dark, haunting and utterly compelling, once heard this is never forgotten.

Kevin Kiner's composing credits at the Internet Movie Database include 67 scores, most of them for American television. I've seen a few episodes of some of these programs, though I can't say that I ever remember hearing of Kevin Kiner until his name was announced as the composer for the new Star Wars animated feature, The Clone Wars. And in fact I suppose that's true for most Star Wars fans, and the general public, as well. The composer doesn't maintain a web presence, but perhaps he's too busy. In a recent interview he noted recording 400 minutes of music for the new animated Clone Wars television series.

Kevin Kiner, if you will, is a skilled craftsman, a technician who can on demand compose, conduct, perform, and produce the music ... Read More:

Composer Goldenthal largely eschews horror bombast, instead opting for a disturbing low-key slow-burning air of menace and dread. Dark, haunting and evocative, this was post-minimalist Goldenthal's first Oscar nominated score (he eventually won on his third nomination for 'Frida').

The cello is the voice of mystery, of depth, of secret and dark caves in the mind of the living, in the memory of the dead. The cello opens the door to the other side of today, here, now, me, to the other side, virtual or real, virtual and real, of what our five senses can capture and even what our mind, the sixth dimension of our sixth sense, can perceive and conceive. When Tan Dun adds to this voice from beyond the grave and the fire of some terrific dragon his own sense of being within and without, inside and outside Chinese music or western harmony, he can reach the power of thunder and the speed of lightning as well as the delicate falling and landing or morning dew on the light leaves of grass that pierce the dawn with their green blades. Critics of the movie always come out with the same line that Streisand was too young to play this role. They may be right but what they fail to see is that she really makes the part her own. I think it's a truely fantastic performance and lets face it who else is going to sing the songs as well as Streisand. 'Before the parade passes by' (how long is that final note?) and 'Hello Dolly' with Louis Armstrong are classics. Also 'Love is only love' is a lovely little ballad specially written for the movie that shows off Streisand's more tender note making. Crawford is less annoying here than usual and if you ever need cheering up 'Put on your Sunday clothes when you feel down and out'...

Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace.
Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace was the first of the "New Movies" that George Lucas has done, and he has brought back to the helm John Williams, Naturally! John has done it again! The music on this Soundtrack is of utmost quality, but nothing to surpass the originality of the first three feature films; Episodes 4, 5, and 6. The story for episode one may have seemed a bit juvenile when comapred to the first of the Star Wars Saga, but the music is still top Notch. I like to draw particular attention to Track Number 2; entitled "Duel of the Fates". What a wonderful piece of Cinematic music! It begins with outright showing of the power of the intended piece, with a simple three measure unaccompanied ... Read More:

99.The Pianist by: Janusz Olejniczak

Purchasers should note that this is NOT a soundtrack album - the title is (I quote) "Music from and inspired by THE PIANIST". That said, this is an evocative album, with a selection of Chopin's piano works adeptly performed by Janusz Olejniczak. Only one piece of incidental music from the film is included.
The real bonus is the final track - a performance by Szpilman himself, recorded in 1948. The imperfections of the original recording only add to the poignancy of this track. It sounds and feels like a very personal interpretation of a Chopin mazurka.
Personally, I would have liked the compilers to include the performance of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" which can be heard briefly in the film.
If you enjoyed this wonderful film, you will enjoy ... Read More:

Amazing, the music really takes you back to the film and it is incredibly upseting, the haunting bagpipes and flutes. It even has speeches included from the film, ah you listen to the sensual, deep sexy voice of Mel Gibson, ah heaven! Oh yeah and the famous freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom part is on as well and if you turn that up really high on your cd player it shakes the whole house! I honestly cannot listen to it with out breaking down in tears as it really brings the film back to you! The composer is James Horner who, may i add composed Titanic and Willow so you know it's got to be good! It also includes tradditional Scottish Bagpipe music! So get your skates on and start ordering now or YOU will be the one who is missing out on such a atmospheric, breathtaking ... Read More:
