One of the great things about the incidental music about Get Carter is that it was all composed by Roy Budd. So, when Jack Carter puts on a record on the duke box in the pub opposite the station it is Budd's "Looking for Someone". In Brumby's horrible modern mansion "on the Durham Road" it is "Love is a four letter word" that the with-it teenagers are grooving to. In the Oxford Galleries Dance Hall it is the bass-y "Livin should be this way" that thunders in the background. All these songs (which we only ever hear in part on the soundtrack) subtly echo the driving jazzy bass line of the famous title track. Brilliant stuff, almost like a Wagnerian leitmotif for Carter's neo-Jacobean revenge tragedy.

In commissioning his long time (cinematic) music director Dick Hyman, to arrange and conduct the soundtrack to his film of the same name, Woody Allen has achieved an unparelleled authenicity unmatched by his contemporary film making peers.

Hyman's arrangements, encompassing Howard Alden's guitar parts, make for a sympathetic and nostalgic return trip to an era of unquestionably great music. Whilst Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli's contribution is limited to just the one number (Mystery Pacific), the overall feel of this jaunty and uplifting soundtrack is overwhelmingly Reinhardt - which is appropriate - given actor Sean Penn's character in the film is that of the "world's second greatest ever guitar player" (of the ... An awe inspiring, heartfelt and beautiful soundtrack to go with one of the most deep films of the last decade.

James Newton Howard, Writer, Director M Night Shyamalan's trusted choice for scoring his films, has done yet another masterful job at scoring another masterpiece by M Night.

it has not topped the score he composed for The Village (M Nights 4th mainstream movie) but its certainly competitive.

The score is executivly produced by M Night Shyamalan

I disagree with those that thought this musical score was bland. It was far from bland, it was stupendous! A beautiful and moving score was made throughout and I applaud the two composers. I look forward to them working together in the future. Their music stirs the heart! well done.

Ok! So you either like Bernadette Peters or you hate her - I was one of the unimpressed! Then, suddenly, along came Annie Get your Gun! This is a case of the right performer in the right role. Her performance is flawless. Forget your prejudices about The Dukes of Hazard, too; Tom Wopat is a sassy and stirring Frank Butler. Look at the`cast on this disc and you know that it should be a disaster - it isn't - it is by several streets, the best Annie Get Your Gun ever! - Enjoy!

When listening to this CD you really do feel like you are back in the cinema!
This really is a refreshing change from the standard movie soundtrack complilations that seem to be everywhere. It includes many of the classical tracks (eg. For the Love of a Princess from Braveheart) which are featured in films but are really hard to find in the shops. It also has many 'popular' songs from films like 'When You Say Nothing at All'- Ronan Keating. This, and the fact the the films featured range from Fantasia to Pulp Fiction, gives it a great variety. It will appeal to a huge range of tastes and no matter what kind of mood you are in there is a track that will suit it!

Jerry Goldsmith's score to the 1979 movie ST Motion Picture is an experience that every score enthusiast should have in their collection. There is no excuse not to own this. The release we have here is the expanded version which people begged Jerry to release for years. For all the wonderful new gems, its still not the "complete" score as some claim here. There is still a lot of classic moments yet to be released. But Jerry made sure that it was'nt complete and himself chose the cues which were to be added to this new release. He's not a fan of "complete scores on disc". Like John Williams, he prefers to release scores on a "selections from" basis.

If you have any complaints this time, you cant whinge at record companies this time. You've got to ... Read More:

Over here in the UK at least, "Camelot" is hardly known. In truth the only reason I know it is because Julie Andrews is in the original broadway cast. "My Fair Lady" is loved everywhere and frequently revived, and indeed Julie Andrews features more prominent in the original cast recording for that show - if she be its popularity magnet that is.

I have never seen the musical, but for what I've read it seems the libretto is rather challengingly protracted. The music though is a jewel. It really sparkles with the shine of Camelot: of mythical, royal England. As such I can see why "Camelot" might not have been as popular as "My Fair Lady". Originating in the States, only a popular piece of entertainment would become endearing in the long run; ... Read More:
