I have the first album and as a lot of people have said the Joy Division sounds are there at the first listen but frankly once you listen to the Editors a bit more it becomes difficult to see any likeness.

This second album is a bit more melodic than the first but im amazed how it has grown on me. Frankly once I really got into it the darkness you hear at first lifts. This album is emotional - not dark or depressing - and I love it for that. Nothing like Joy Division who I am a fan of but can only take in small doses.

If you are open minded (and yes the lyrics are pretty simple) then this album is worth a shot. Give it time.

Like a lot of people I was very hesitant as to whether 9 would live up to its predecessor and had to give it a few listens before I could pass judgement. Although in some aspects it is similar to O- "Dogs" possesses an innocence that would fit nicely with Damien's first album- to me it seems a lot more mature and some of the perfect, beautiful lyrics have been replaced with some more realistic and matter-of-fact ones which are actually just as powerful. For example the chorus of Rootless Tree (which involves a lot of swearing) to me is incredibly realistic and almost like a converstaion- "so * you and all we've been through, I said leave it, it's nothing to you, and if you hate me then hate me so good that you can let me out of this hell when you're around". ... Ok so i have been browsing the other reviews written by other people, there not that good are they? I think this album is a product you either love or hate, for me i love this album its very different to the previous stereophonics music, i must admit i was a little dissapointed that there wasnt much rock and roll - the songs can almost be seen as a little depressing, but it has grown on me A LOT!
To put things short, buy the album if you are a stereophonics fan, give it chance to grow on you, you wont be dissapointed with songs such as mr writer, vegas two times and handbags and the gladrags which is an excellent Rod Stewart cover (almosts sounds like him), but most of all i think this album projects Kelly's unique husky voice.
So i will leave the buying ... Read More:

Alison Krauss I guess is one of those singers you either love or hate. She has a tonal quality that for me epitomises the very best in Bluegrass. This album is no exception. The sheer quality of her voice is at time unbelievable
and whilst it is true she veers away from pure bluegrass - her strength is that she can carry this off with huge credibility. I bought this album not only because I love Alison Krauss - but I heard her wonderful duet with James Taylor of "hows the world treating you?"- and simply had to have it! This is an old song recorded by Elvis in his early days - and hearing Alison and James brought back all those memories of wonderful songs, and meaningful lyrics. I also adore her version of "I'm just a country boy/girl" formerly recorded by Don Williams ... Read More:

I must say, these past reviews make a very interesting read, particulary Mr Dooley's impertinent rant. I am in favour of all the people who have commented about what this Welshman has to say, we are supposed to be reviewing Bolan's music, not his lifestyle. I would be most suprised if this Arthur man was able to control his ego if he was subject to the same success that Bolan had. In Bolan's defence, I would like to point out that in the summer of 76, Bolan had slimmed down (though I fail to see why we should metion his weight) and released 'I Love to Boogie' one of my all time favorite songs. Marc Bolan was a fantastic songwriter and musician whose music has brought me through my childhood and into my teenage years.

This is so mellow and dreamy. A perfect accompaniment to a 'deep' mood. Only don't listen to it whilst driving or operating heavy machinery as you'll probably find yourself falling asleep! Oh, and she has the most adorable chin cleft, not that it's evident just from listening to her singing, though. I think listening to this has cheered me up. It might work for you too!

If you're a Josh Groban fan you will love it, if you'r new to Josh Groban you're in for a treat. 'You're still you' and 'to where you are' move me to tears every time I listen to them. I could listen to his voice all day (and usually do).
