Kreator are so Metal it's almost painful, but I mean that in a good way, not a bad, Manowar, just-look-at-those-idiots kind of way. In their long and reasonably successful career, I believe that this is their finest album, and they've put a few out over the years. The riffs are, as you'd expect from Kreator, superb. Quite intricate and very fast, this is the kind of music that is designed to make you bang your head to it, and it does that job just perfectly. As is par for the course with this band, Mille can't sing to save his life, and Ventor has a tendency to get a bit over-excited behind the drumkit, but it doesn't matter. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts, and in this case, the whole is Thrash Metal near-perfection. When you've ... Read More:

YOu kow what. I like this. all other mf and King diamond fans hate it but i tink its a good album. Fair enough its no where near as good as the pre split ones but songs like buried alive make it a worthwhile buy.

If you like the early stuff, then this is a welcome adition, albeit a sort of imaginationless little brother that copies the ideas somewhat

Screaming out of the hardcore punk scene like a train with no breaks, Napalm Death was the band that detonated the warhead we call 'extreme metal' today.
I don't actually like the term "extreme metal", as it incorporates plenty of acts who really don't deserve the honour of being called "a bit different", let alone "EXTREME!!!!!" But whewn you listen to 'Scum' there is no other term to describe it. Maybe "mentally disturbing", but thats about it.
The first riff of "Multi National Corporations" is just so catchy and monsterous, its is no hard task to hear how the fledgling harder metal bands of the time took the baton and ran with it after Scum's release.
Napalm are famous for having more members than an American football team. And the ... Read More:

this is the strong debut from nyc-thrashers Overkill. it can be compared to the debuts of Metallica,Megadeth,Slayer,Anthrax & Exodus as it's of the same quality. this is solid Power- & Thrash-Metal with a typical 80's sound. "Rotten To The Core" is still the band's anthem. anyone interested in 80's Metal will like it.

It has to be tough for slayer. This is the band who defined what a certain brand of metal sounded like, even what it could sound like. Reign in Blood was the record I wanted to hear in 1986. It was the yard stick by which I measured not just metal, but all extreme/noise music. I spent years trying to find another record that would give me that same hit. Now here is that record.

Nothing inbetween has offered that same visceral brutality. Like Reign in Blood this is an album that takes my breath away, I find myself listening to a track, then replaying it, just to relive the sensation. It somehow leaves me feeling clean, in the same way that you feel purged after a fist fight, not clever, but in touch with something elemental.

Crank up the volume, lock your doors, grab your air guitar and prepare to lose your mind, this is METAL that grabs you by the guts and burns itself into your brain. From the primal to the melodicaly sublime this is Hellowe'en.
Spitting speed metal mayhem, with tongue firmly in cheek, Hellowe'en began the assault way back in '86 and this little bundle of joy beautifully encompasses the very best of their maidenesque maddness. The blistering barrage of "Savage" and the thrash onslaught of "Victim of Fate" will purify your mind, "Save Us" will have you on your knees while "Ride the Sky" and the pure genius of "Halloween and Keeper of the Seven Keys" will burn out of the speakers the with barely a pause. "Futureworld" ... Read More:

A lot of early Helloween fans don't like this second generation of Helloween, mainly because the change of singer and they can't feel as attached to the band they first got into.

However all that aside this album is fantastic. After the disappointing Pink Bubbles and Chameleon the band really are on top form again. They really benefit from the song writing abilities and playing of the 2 new members, Andi Deris on Vocals and Uli Kusch (My favourite Drummer) on drums.

The songs themselves have a really upbeat attitude to them (well mostly) and has sleeve notes and a new part to the Keeper story. I feel this is because the band feel that they are back to their keeper standards.

Unfortunately this album isn't as good as Keeper 2 and the album that has ... Read More:

Music : Volume 8: The Threat Is Real
This is certainly an album that splits the vote. The only certainty is that it's the one that crept under the radar; the early Anthrax material is very well known; Persistence of Time, Stomp 442 and Sound of White Noise signalled a revival in musical respect after the excesses of image that rather overshadowed their efforts in the late 80's. But "Threat"? Off the radar.

When I bought this way back in 98, it was almost under duress. I quit Anthrax along with Belladonna, viewing the whole thrash scene as tired, derivative and dominated by growlers. Boring. A friend of mine raved about the record, so I bought it eventually, slapped it on, and was hooked - maybe not from "Crush", which is a respectable opening but nothing outstanding; maybe not from "Catharsis" which was ...
