An average album let down by a very weak production - a few good songs but nothing in the same class as Master Of Puppets or Reign In Blood.
1988's State Of Euphoria & 1990's Persistence Of Time are FAR superior despite lacking the iconic status of this vastly overrated 1987 effort.

Very mid tempo with a tinny drum sound and thin guitars - not this band's finest hour...........

I had Vulgar and went on to listen to this - it took time to grow on me, as all great albums do (a LONG time for this one) but the pure guttural nastiness of the vocals, percussive guitars, growling bass, infectious drum patterns and insane solos make this without a doubt one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to.

It has a certain dirty, gritty quality that makes it a very unique album in my books.

Dime does so many things with that axe that you didn't think were possible, and the lyrics and songwriting are amongst the best I've heard.

The album begins with a thrashy number, goes on to more groove orientated songs and then drops down into a well of wallowing self loathing and putridity nearer the climax ... Read More:

I aint a massive fan off this album, i prefer their later albums e.g Low, but this have some killer stuff on like Alone In The Dark & Burnt Offerings & Over The Walls. The songs here sound a bit too similar. This is a great album to listen to in full but the songs seperatley are only O.K. Though Alone In The Dark is an amazing song. I am kind off a new fan off testament as i only have 3 albums off their my first being low. If you buy one testament album you'll end up wanting alot more, as when you first hear 'em you'll never stop loving their music. I think their influence is obvious because in Burnt Offerings, you can clearly hear the solo from metallicas disposable heroes which usually isn't a bad thing but here it just annoys me for some reason. This Brazilian pop band have been going since 1984, and are about to release a new album later this year. Roots their sixth album is utter garbage! Gone are three way harmonies, melodic hooks and classic song structures-instead we get Max Cavalera's unintelligible grunts punctuating half baked thrash riffs and insane drum beats which don't even follow a pattern. There's even chanting monks on here! What were they thinking?

I have no ideal what their costume designer was thinking either, he's completely changed their image and opted for a post-Jurassic neadathal look. In the lead single 'Roots' the video features a group of half nude tribesmen dancing around the band. Cavalera is a terrible actor, his contrived bouts of anger are so transparent it's cringing ... I agree that this album is not the band's best. There are so many more fantastic metal albums to buy. It is heavy alright but it lacks either strong melodies or top quality rhythm. The vocal track is over the top and the rest doesn't gel. "Vulgar display" is hugely better. In all honesty I find this album difficult to listen to, making me feel a bit like my old mum - yet I have a collection stuffed with Sabbath, Megadeth, Mettallica, Slayer etc. You will be told to turn this down/off - but in such circumstances it is better to have a sense of incomprehending indignation (as if for example you are playing "Vulgar Display") rather than honest agreement. Not for the casual fan. 3 stars? well it is heavy...

I seem to remember in 1994 there wereabout 3 people in the UK who didn't have the Chaos AD T shirt with the album cover on.

The album inspirted a generation and was part of the metal revival. While metal has moved on, it still is a classic album. It tries to be fiery and fearsome, and is on a big scale, while at the same time there are hooks, melodies and reason in the tracks. Vocalist Max Cavalera roars passionately about injustice and destruction, and you get the impression he means it.

'Refuse/Resist' is a great opener and was an anthem, 'Biotech' and 'Propeganda' set the world to rights, and I ain't arguing with him! 'Kaiowas' and 'We Who Are Not As Others' slow things down successfully without losing your interest.

It was a milestone, and ... Read More:

if you were to look up industrial metal in the dictionary you should see a picture of this album as it easily the most appropriate band to fit the name as most other industrial acts seen to emphasise the electronic elements it is used here to sharpen a very heavy metal sound.
in effect what we have here is a death metal album with electronics and as such there was nothing like it at the time of release and there still isn't much that can match it to this day.
the thing is that it excells everywhere! from the glorious stabbing riffs that litter the whole album or the superhuman drumming ............. but probably the best part is the mesmerising performance that comes out of burtons mouth!
this guy has a voice that most vocalists would kill for!
the guy can roar and ... Read More:

'The New Order' is an amazing album. Simple as. In my opinion, better than there amazing debut album 'The Legacy'. Every track is great (exept the instrumentals, but they are good when listening to the album as a whole.) Even there cover of Aerosmith's 'Nobodys Fault' is a great track. In my books, better than the original. Testament have released so many good albums that its hard to pick a top one but I would defiently recomend this to someone who's just discovered the band. 5/5 with ease!!!

After getting unfairly kicked out of Metallica, Dave Mustaine went on to form Megadeth. And put together this record, from the outset it's just quality!!! From the strange piano intro of 'I loved you to death'. to the closer. It is a very raw sounding record but you can hear Megadeth's talent in playing and Dave Mustaine's ability to write classic songs!
If you luv thrash metal then you must own this album, it captures the spirit of the genre! Much like 'Never mind the bollocks captured the punk spirit. You get the feeling Dave Mustaine must be sitting back thinking...
How do you like them eggs Metallica!!! lol.

I have just purchased megadeths greatest hits from amazon and what a collection of total masterpieces they are.
I have listened to megadeth for about fifteen or so years and have heard every song over and over but despite that this collection is proof that theyre music stands the test of time.
Most of the songs have been remastered and the clarity and punch of every beat hits you in the face when turned up.
The best thing about this compilation is that every song one after the other are good and work well until the end, not like some comps you get when half the songs tend to be skipped, you can leave it to play and its cool. so from a total fan from me to you" BUY BUY BUY IT "
