Music : Treasure Chest
To those unfamiliar with Helloween's history - they are a German band responsible for the birth of European power metal, as it is known today. The bands carrier officially started back in 1986 with their debut album "Walls of Jericho" that made the band easily known to the public. Combining thrash-speed metal with classical and melodic elements, the band achieved a very good beginning. The bands career reached it's highest point in 1987-1989 with the releases of the "Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I&II" albums and the addition of the charismatic and nowadays most copied metal vocalist Michael Kiske! The band disappeared for a few years, due to record-label problems, released a couple of unsuccessful but nevertheless good records (91-93) and resurfaced ... Read More:

like the majority of fans of fear factory,it would be truthful to say that we werent there when this debut was released,i became a fan when demanufacture was released and because i loved that i wanted to hear more,so that brought me to 'soul of a new machine' and the superb death metal/industrial/melodic metal that was their debut, this album is heavier than any future release from the boys but it isnt something you should fear, burtons vocals wouldnt be lost on a death metal at times, but this is where clean vocals were added to extreme metal and it is a marvel throughout, the sound is raw and hard hitting, the drums have never sounded better and are hit with the passion of a bull chasing down the road after a guy dressed in red,it is all so startling ... This is a selection of early Morbid Angel recordings. Some of the tracks appear on Alters of Madness under different names or with different lyrics. There may even be an early version of something off Blessed are the sick (can't remember without listening to it due to the name change!). As you'd expect for a bunch of tracks unearthed from demo tapes and the like, the sound quality isn't exactly top notch. Over all it's worth a listen and worth buying if you're a big Morbid Angel fan, but newcomers might prefer to try Alters or Blessed.

Well, I'm all in favour of some musical experimentalism, but has to be handled with a little more competence than this, or it ends up sounding like a way of getting two albums out of one album's material. Interesting in so far as a couple of tunes would go down well in an alternative clubinstead of the usual fare, but dance music they aren't.

FF were more confident in their experiments on the first album, when I suppose it was less of a commercial risk - Fear is the Mindkiller is excellent (and got me into the band in the first place in 1993), but this did not live up to those expectations.

When Metallica released Kill 'em all in 1983 it took the world by storm and started a new revolution of sound. This album followed a year later and was greatly in the style of Kill 'em All.
It is raw in its sound and has Niel Turbin on Vocals and bassist Dan Liker (later the bassist for Nuclear Assault & S.O.D.).
It is not generally listed as the bands classic years (Spreading the Disease through to Persistance of time) due to the absense of Joey Belladonna but is definetely a classic first and is a classic album in the bigger picture of the early days of thrash metal. For fans of Metallica's Kill 'em All this is a recommended buy. Play the two back to back to re-live the early raw sound that first exploded on the Heavy Metal scene back in the 83/84. ... it was going to happen eventually........ the fact that fear factory finally release an album that didn't redefine the genre and this is it
its not a bad album by any means but by their own very high standards its disappointing
everything that made their previous work brilliant is still here but it feels this time like they are merely going over old ground and subsequently it fails due to a lack of intention
the guitars still knock you sideways the drums still feel like bodyblows and burtons voice still gets those hairs standing up on the back of your neck
the only trouble its nothing new in this mixture and the guitar sound isn't as good as elsewhere and this album has atleast three terrible songs on it and that is why its disappointing

Short, sharp, and brutal as hell! As much of an important part of your Slayer collection as Reign In Blood or Show No Mercy, this CD is truly a classic.

And even if you disagree you should at least get this CD to listen to Chemical Warfare!
