Songs in the of X presents total of 15 chapters, 2 of which are TXF themes. The first track is Mark Snow's longer version of the theme and it's absolutely great! Though this is a soundtrack for The X-Files, all songs in the disc haven't appeared in the show. Nonetheless this includes very good songs, my personal favourites are Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Red Right Hand, Soul Coughings Unmarked Helicopters, Sheryl Crows On The Outside, Foo Fighters' Down In The Park and Filters Thanks Bro. The real stinker is Star Me Kitten, I wonder why this song has been included to this CD. All others are quite good. Recommended.

My opinion on soundtrack cds is that most of the times, they do not stand on their own, and unfortunately "2001" is not an exception. What you get on this disc is, 3 takes of Zarathustra, 2 takes of Blue Danube and the rest of the disc is pretty much atmospheric music, sound effects mixed with some voices and.... that's it! Oh, there's also a "Hal" 9 minutes montage with extracts from the film - completely unnecessery. The 2 main themes last about 8 minutes in total (if you do not count them twice or triple) and that's all the music you'll get from this cd, the rest is pretty boring. Don't misunderstand me, I love the film (after all I wouldn't have bought the soundtrack), and the music works great on it. But it doesn't stand on ... Read More:

The other reviews are spot on. If you found an unlabelled copy of this CD you would never guess the connection to LOR. I was hugely dissapointed. This is like going to a Queen concert and getting a tribute band singing anything by Queen songs. If you like wallpaper music you may like it - elsewise beware - the tracks go ever on and on...

this soundtrack is one of the most powerful pieces of compositions that will ever wander the earth! the tempo of some of the composition suggests a slow moving beast, which is the terminator, then the up tempo pieces gives us the realistic image of action, with close encounters with weapons! all i can say is that this soundtrack is a wonderful piece of work, and it should forever live on!

This is wonderful compilation. Of course, all Star Wars fans already have the original soundtracks, but this one is quite special. Sound and performances are excellent. If you have at your collection all original soundtracks buy this one too. It's good to hear in wich way other conductor is going to bring that extraordinary music. Kojian and his Utah orchestra are splendid. Special moments appear from track to track. Big drum is so realistic in this recording - you are going to experience dozen of earthquakes when you'll reproduce this CD. Take my advice, buy this one and just listen those wonderful sounds from galaxy far, far away...
