Blade Runner changed my life, I was born in 1979 so wasn't able to appreciate the film until it had been out a good 13 years (I actually saw the director's cut first). I bought the original soundtrack in 1999 and it has been an integral part of my life ever since, I have just discovered by accident that this album has been released, I'm so excited I might wee myself...

I apologise that this isn't actually a review but if you take my advice now to please buy this album then it was not a waste of your time to have read it. It is quite simply the most sublime soundtrack to a film ever made. A moment of clarity that only comes along once or twice a century...

I have always considered Miklos Rozsa's score to Ben-Hur to be the greatest film score ever composed. The sheer depth of that music, the quantity of themes Dr. Rozsa composed for that one movie (around 10 or 12 different themes) and the magnificent orchestrations he wrote made that score unique. Considering the quality of film scores that are composed today - good, usually adequate, but nothing truly 'great' - I never thought I would come across anything to match this wonder written 50 years ago.

I'm so glad to say I was wrong.

This score will surely go down as one of the great film scores of all time. I wont go on and on about it, as other reviewers have written fabulous reviews here that sum up my feelings. I only want ... Read More:

Tim Burton's cult classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas has always been held a special place in the hearts of countless people - including myself - that have grown up with the film. The creepy hellish innocence that Burton always manages to bring to his films was never so prominent as in this masterpiece.

Now, celebrating it's 15th Anniversary, the re-release of the soundtrack has fully embraced the alternative goth/rock/metal subculture that holds NBC so dearly. The songs we know and love have all been re-invented and some of the choices of acts to undertake this mammoth task are absolutely spot on. Amy Lee's powerful rendition of Sally's Song is incredibly moving, while Korn's interpretation of Kidnap The Sandy Claws is a thrashing ... Read More:

The Order of the Phoenix is the weakest in the Harry Potter books but I still gave it 4 stars, this just shows how good the books are. JK Rowling is an amazing author.

I queued up for this book on the 15th of July 2005, and it was worth it. This book is definitely one of my favourite Harry Potters, along with COS, GOF and DH.
There was so much going on, unlike OOTP, and I loved all the memories and Dumbledore and Harry looking for the Horcruxes.

It was interesting to see how Malfoy's character developed from book one onwards, and I think that in this book in particular you see what he will become. I thought him being a death eater was a great idea, and I enjoyed reading about how he dealt with all the problems.

Also, I found Harry and Ginny's relationship a delight to read about; Ron's reaction was quite pleasing- as I was reading it I thought he would not allow Harry to go out with ... Read More:

This soundtrack is certainly a popular one today but in my opinion, highly overrated. When I saw the movie, I thought that the hobbit music was a standout but remembered little else and the same is true for the CD. It excels in atmosphere and size but (apart from the hobbit music) has very little character; something that I feel is essential in a soundtrack of this sort. If you're hoping to hear the 'Ring Theme' (which is repeated over and over in the first film), it appears only once on the CD and the Nazgul music is a little dominating and repetitive for just one disc (even though the choir does send a nice shiver down the spine). The best thing about this soundtrack is the fact it has given Howard Shore's profile a much-needed push and I hope he can ... Read More:

If you like the music of John Williams, then you'll be quite happy with this disc. If, however, you buy it because you liked the music in the film, then prepare to be ever so slightly disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, what is on the disc is good, and well up to Williams's usual high standard, but it misses out what is, in my opinion, some of the best music in the film. For example, there's a track for Diagon Alley, but it's not the same music as I heard in the film. Why?

So, in summary, nice music, shame it's not all there.
