The list of adjectives to describe the wondrous qualities of Howard Shore's fantastic score is endless. If you thought that the theatrical soundtracks were good wait till you hear this! The scores for LOTR are wonderful and when you listen they seem to carry you away to Middle-Earth. I totally understand why some people are annoyed about having to fork out for another LOTR related release - and this CD Box Set isn't cheap! I too hope that they aren't going down the all-too-familiar churn-it-out road that some other franchises have gone down. The only consolation is that LOTR releases seem to be of outstanding quality and when they say you get extras they do deliver e.g. just look at the mind-blowing extras on the Special Edition DVDs! WELL IT,S HERE AT LONG LAST! THE COMPLETE SCORE FROM JAMES HORNER OF TITANIC AND MASK OF ZORRO FAME, THE ORIGNAL RELEASE OF THIS SCORE GOES WAY BACK TO 1986, EVEN THEN IT WAS NOT COMPLETE, UNTIL NOW, JAMES HORNER IS ON TOP FORM WITH ONE, AND THANKS TO THE FINE EFFORTS OF THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, THE MUSIC REALLY COMES TO LIFE, WITH TRACKS LIKE BAD DREAMS AND LV-426, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE, IT,S A GREAT SCORE.

I've heard all the soundtracks so far, but the theme from Chamber of Secret is the one that still sends shivers up the spine. Yes, Hedwig's Theme, Harry's Wondrous World and others stand out and are quintessential Williams at the top of his form, but Fawkes may be the melody he is remembered for in a century's time. I am looking forward to the Half-Blood Prince almost more to hear if there will be a variation on the theme played as a pavan at the death of Dumbledore as to seeing what is, I think, my favourite book in the series. Wonderful, humbling, but wonderful

Although tis is an excelent collection from Johnny Cash, there are two songs missing from the CD than is advertised on the album listings as advertised on the Amazon website. Track 1/ Big Foot and Track 9/ Old Apache Squaw are missing. Review by Richard Warrender

Listening to this soundtrack - feels like watching the film, from the opening credits to the tie-fighters attacking the falcon to the death of obi-wan. You simply don't get the same feeling listening to any other soundtrack (maybe because of my mis-spent youth?). Fantastic, iconic, seminal, legendary, universally recognised, i could go on at length - but i think you get the picture. This album really doesn't need reviews anyway, if you've seen the film and liked it and you are looking at this page you'd be mad not to get this (and the other 2 in this trilogy). Simply the best!

Ever since i was introduced to Classical music by my father at home and in music class at school i have appreciated the classics ability to soothe the mind, to be able to sink back and allow the mind to be massaged through the ears so as to be able to forget much of what troubles us, and Radio FM have again provided me with a beautiful continuity of music on these CDs to do just that. Gone is the need to turn the LP and for most of us we have the ability to place all the CDs in to a system and listen for hours on end, and with this set gone also is the need to skip tracks, each seems to flow naturally from the previous and merge nicely into the next, while the composers can take pride in their music, Radio FM can be proud of their management of all these pieces together. Very enjoyable!
