44 years since her debut Loretta Lynn has written and performed some of country music's best songs ever in the entire genre. Loretta has always stuck to the kind of music she loves to write and perform and has never tried to be a Dolly Parton type person trying to act or be a pop princess. Her music has always been as country as dirt and here in her latest album she adds rock to the album and keeping it country. Critics compared this to the later work of Johnny Cash and made people think twice about country music. Appealling to rock, country and indie audiences it's no surprise the album did well. This is the strongest out of Faith's 3 Pop/Country albums.This went on to sell 8 million copies! It includes her hits The Way You Love Me(great catchy uptempo),If My Heart Had Wings, her big duet with hubby Tim McGraw Let's Make Love and the title track and her signature song Breathe,a great ballad that really shows off Faith's fantastic voice. Other standouts are the uptempos What's In It For Me,I Got My Baby,and Love Is A Sweet Thing. But the real gems are her ballads It Will Be Me,That's How Love Moves,her great version of the beautiful Bruce Springsteen song If I Should Fall Behind and the gorgeous If I'm Not In Love,this really shows off her superb low range. You may remember a previous compilation, Ultimate Dolly Parton, that was released a couple of years ago. The standard American version was a single CD containing 20 tracks. The UK version had those tracks plus a bonus re-mix of Early morning breeze. There was also a double-CD version that contained 36 tracks, available by mail order only from one outlet in the USA, which did not allow orders from outside the USA. However, this version was released as standard in Germany so anybody who wanted it could by the German version if they couldn't buy (or didn't know about) the German version - it is available from several Amazon sites. ..if you have this double album! That's the impression when playing this cd's. His acoustic guitar and famous voice,and that's all it takes. He's singing some rare favorites recorded in 1970's and talking to you between songs,explaining them, tellin' stories, just like if you have just bumped into his house. Maybe it's not for average , causual fan but more for completist. Similar to Grammy awareded 'American Recordings' CD, but more concentrated on gospel material & old country songs. This is beautifully designed package, with cristal clear sound and with it's informal concept it brings Johnny Cash right in your room.

I really love this album. Emmyloyu has a great voice! She is one of the best female singers ever! The songs "Bluebird Wine", "Sleepless Nights", and "Boulder to Birmingham" are so beautiful and good! This is a 70's classic!

I love country music and Tammy Wynette is a singer of whom i regread as being one of the true Queens of Country. This CD includes her two biggest hit singles "D.I.V.O.R.C.E" and "Stand By Your Man", lots of a cover versons and a duet with Mark Gray. The standout tracks for me are her beautiful recordings of "Crying In The Rain" and "Please Come To Boston". This CD has given a lot of pleasure and i'm sure if you buy this album from this great singer sadly no longer with us, you'll enjoy it to.

I whish I could say something positive about this record. I can't. She has absolutely no voice and the music is crap.

Very few have written better country songs than Kris Kristofferson and the quality of the offerings on this CD is what we have come to expect from him, beautiful, moving and thought provoking. That is particularly so for those like me, who are only a few years behind him, sharing many of his thoughts hopes and fears. I have sung his songs over the years so many times with great pleasure both for myself, and with various bands,and dare I say, for the folk who paid out front. It really makes me so sad to hear the weak backing on this session. There is a lack of 'production' about it which, in my opinion, is no way to treat a star of Kris' ilk.
