Not being an expert on country music or on Johnny Cash, I must say this album is moving and very very suggestive; with simple but clever arrangements, beautiful songs and amazing vocal... Obviously more than merely touched by age and various ailments, mr. Johnny Cash performes with great passion and suggests wisdom no young singer can convey (or even come close to conveying)... I like it very much!

We have loved John Denver's music since we were kids. Hearing them in this CD shows us that he was the BEST. We have so many memories of the different things the songs meant to us, he gave us a lot of happiness. We will always play his music & we know it will live on long after we are gone.

Not much to say seeing as everyone has said it, but this is a brilliant album and has brought me to appreciate jennings and kristofferson (who i had not heard much of before)

This is the first of the so-called American recordings, and arguably the best. The songs have been carefully selected by Cash, and I believe there is certainly something here for everyone. If you love music you will soon fall in love with this album. Most artists today don't have one percent of the emotional intensity that Cash had. I highly recommend this album without reservation.

Just a quick review here. Although the music on here is fantastic and as eclectic as you could hope for I was under the impression (maybe I missed something) that the tracks would include the introductions by the man himslef. However, the intros come in a separate booklet and are NOT on the CD. As I said, a great CD but just be warned that this is not the actual shows themselves. Cheers!

Seasick Steve is a fantastic bluesman, I'm a huge fan, and I listen to Doghouse Music constantly, but I'm really sorry to say that this album just doesn't quite do it for me. Doghouse Music is a superb album - simple, straightforward, totally un-produced and packed with real feeling and passion. Thats what Seasick Steve means to me - his views and experiences of a different world, (one I hope I'll never know) are powerful and honest, and he can really play that guitar too. It was obvious that this album would be more commercial, more produced, because Steve is now a massive worldwide phenomenon (rightly so) and so there is alot more at stake. This album is amazing! Fantastic song writing. The first 3 tracks especially are brilliant and amazingly well written songs. I love it!

Faith Hill is a legend in country music, but I do find her to have a more `rock' take on country, which I love. You do also get the great slow, sad songs which are just so well written. In this greatest hits album you have some of the best songs faith has done, although there are some even better songs which failed to make it on to this cd, don't know why, but its still an amazing collection . Every song on here is great ( with the exception of `over the rainbow' never cared for that song). A classic collection.

This is a brilliant selection of songs by Johnny Cash and for a man in the twilight of his years there is just so much energy and sheer joy of music making coming through on this album. Just play 'Country Boy' to see what I mean and to confirm what a great idea it was to get Tom Petty et al to back the great man, who's voice still sounds so strong. Don Gibsons 'Sea of Heartbreak' was a favourite of mine when I was at school and its so good to hear it again. The Carter families 'The kneeling drunkards plea' drives along at a great pace and 'Meet me in heaven' is just so moving to those of us who have loved Johnny and June over the years and can imagine them walking those streets of gold. What a shame their last song has been sung. Excluding Bitter Tears and the prison sessions there aren't ... Read More:
