This CD is fabulous for anyone to listen to but my 18 month old daughter has always loved it too. We play her tracks 18 till 23 (the end) every night as she goes to bed and Bing's velvet tones do the trick every night. A word of caution: these soporific songs often have the same effect on my husband and I as we listen via the baby monitor!

Being a metal/rock fan, I happened upon this lady by trying to find a good radio station whilst busy in the kitchen. I heard Gunpowder & Lead being played and loved it instantly! Turned out I had tuned into a C & W awards countdown for female artists. I hurried to the computer & bought this CD. I've always liked the old C&W due to my Dad listening to it, but never bought anything myself. Well this CD is fantastic! Its cheery, upbeat & fun :) I have been looking around for something similar and hope I'm going to stumble on another groovy chick to give my ears a rest from all the shouting & screaming I normally listen to! Miranda you ROCK!!!

The proof of Kristofferson's craftmanship as a songwriter lies in the fact that songs like Me and Bobby McGee, Help Me Make It Through The Night, For The Good Times and Sunday Morning Coming Down have been covered thousands of times by artists from many different genres. This collection displays his literate songwriting while his gruff vocal is somewhat reminiscent of Willie Nelson. I also considered him to be straddling a position between country and folk, and this album is more folk than country with its incisive social comment as on Blame It On The Stones and The Law Is For Protection of the People. The final recorded performance by the great man. Superb music not to be missed........ a fitting farewell! Guest performances from Jessi Colter, John Anderson, Montgomery Gentry and Travis Tritt.... along with an array of musicians second to none. This is country music as it should be!

All of this series on Sun rockabilly artists are great (Sonny Burgess, Billy Lee Riley, Charlie Feathers, etc.) but Warren Smith is one of the great forgotten masters of the genre. As well as great rockers, there are some beautiful Honky Tonk songs, and a few like Black Jack David or Red Cadillac & A Black Moustache that don't quite fit either the rock or country tags. Anybody interested in rockabilly should own this (& also the Sonny Burgess one at least).

Completely disagree with other reviewer, and seeing he bought it at a sale he shouldn't be carping. My wife bought this set for me as a Christmas present [from Amazon] a few years ago, and I love it. It states plainly on the Box that these are the Nashville Years recordings from 1961-1965, and that is the main reason I wanted this set, as I regard these items as some of Burl Ives greatest recordings, as marrying that unique voice to some great songs is a work of genius. This set contains a vast wealth of the various Styles that Burls' voice fitted like a glove. You have Cowboy Songs, Gospel Songs, Hawaiian Songs, 1940's. Pop songs ie. By the Light of the Sivery Moon,Jealous, Melancholy Baby etc.,and of course Burls' own Country hits plus some great covers ... Read More:

This is a moving and wonderful collection of songs, the last work of such a fine talent. I've played this umpteen times and it's worth every penny. Sensational recordings, and if you liked the American sessions with Rick Rubin, you'll love this. Fantastic. Worth buying just to hear "The L&M Don't Stop Here Anymore."

Should be called 101 Country Greats LIVE. This must be the worst country music box set ever released onto the unsuspecting music fan. Nearly all the tracks are pretty poor live versions of some great country songs! The artists appear to be the original people but not the original versions. There is no warning on the box or discs that the music is live or on Amazons description. I don't get fooled very often buying music online but I was by this load of rubbish. Be warned!!!!!!!!!!!!
