Music : Ya Don't See The Signs
As good a mix of rock and hip hop as you'll see this year. Splendidly put together and easily deserving of a full five stars.

32.Ad Infinitum by: Numskullz

Music : Ad Infinitum
Numskullz have been around for a while and have finally hit us with their album. They possess a unique sound with some dope beats. There is a cohesive vibe that jels this album together with beats that contain wonderful depth giving the MC Rola the oppurtunity to express himself eloquently. Rola is definitely a very underrated MC and Numskullz is an underrated group.

35.Nu Flow by: Big Brovaz

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : Nu Flow
When a band brings out two singles I like, I get the CD. In most cases this works but it doesn't with Big Brovaz. The singles "Nu Flow", "OK" and "Baby Boy" were amazing songs but the rest of the album....isn't. Although a few other tracks are great RnB tracks like "Gotta Get" and "Summertime" but other tracks you just skip cause they sound horrible. The guys definately have to work on their raps and the girls have to learn how to sing in tune. I think Big Brovaz are very promising and they will improve but you might want to skip this one. Unless you loved all those singles that is.

As far as I'm concerned, "Witness" is THE British hip hop anthem; a razor blade-ripped cyclone of a track, ideal for Roots Manuva to rap about beans on toast over (yes, it's that lyrical reference again). The rest varies from quite good to good. "Ital Visions" and "Evil Rabbit" predate Burial by a good five years when it comes to transferring the atmosphere of a rain-soaked London night into sound; in fact, save for the intro, the whole 60 minutes is loaded with heaviness, with mechanical clicks, robosynths and even the occasional sample (there's like 2 on the whole record...), with a sound not unlike Cannibal Ox's The Cold Vein. Like that album, of course, this also should've been condensed, but I applaud Manuva for choosing such a threatening and ... Read More:

37.Msi and Asylum by: MSI & Asylum
June 14, 1999
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Music : Msi and Asylum
MSI & Asylum released their first album to critical acclaim on the underground UK hip hop scene but the harsh, raw beats did little to convince those of a more commercial bent. With their second album, they have moved to in house production and Ranx cooks up some tremendous soundscapes, not least the Western themed "Hang 'Em High". The same high standard of rapping remains from the first release, with Bandit and Haych (now solo) particularly impressive. Basically, MSI & Asylum have become more commercially accessible without selling out.

Not bad if you can manage it!

Music : Biro Funk [VINYL]
I'm not the world's biggest hip-hop fan. I'm often put off the fact that I have nothing in common with the (usually black) lifestyles alluded to and I dislike aggressive posturing lyrics etc. However I do like hip-hop beats and good, tight rapping.

Braintax is somewhat refreshing in that he is not just copying black, American rappers. He's kept his northern UK accent and taken his own experiences as a white British lad as the subject matter of his writing. I like this. It's not bogus and it shows.

However, personally, I wish he's take it a step further - root out and eliminate the remaining cliches still in the work. I preferred the tracks without the other (more cliched) artists and where he avoided rapping about how he's good ... Read More:

Music : Amongst the Madness
as far as uk hip hop goes this album is not up there with the greats .. ie Braintax.

it feels to me that is lacking any realy punch, the songs congeal into one mass of averageness at best.

i was very disappointed upon purchasing this having read the other reviews raving how good it is :S

maybe i will choose more carefully in future whose advice i listen too. tbh 2 stars is generous but i save 1 star for ppl like the spice girls , soo about says it all really
