Music : The Great Brain Robbery
More polished than their first offering, 'The Great Brain Robbery' shows The Crocketts honing their undoubtable talent for barnstorming rock songs and introverted, eccentric lyrics. Whilst a more ordered affair than its predecessor this album still captures the shambolic, energetic fun filled anger of their live performances on songs such as 'Lucifer' and 'On Something'.Lead Singer Daveys frantic confused stream of off the wall amusing and disturbing consciousness covers classic punk fuelled rants of moshing music and, In their mellower moments catchy grooves are complemented by a'summery, holiday feel'[million things] and angst ridden yet still tender ballads [survival of the prettiest. This is rock music with a twist. A twist of genius, ... Read More:

The harp, a strange obsession with hares and the ability to encapsulate something of the Welsh experience without being as painfully worthy as Geraint Jarman mark out Twm Morys as a remarkable talent.

"Ffair y Bala", all swirling samples and drones, may well be the finest song ever recorded in Welsh; the funniest bit of "Corsydd Fyrjinia", I'm afraid, is impossible to translate, but believe me it is very, very funny; perhaps the record is a bit long ("Poeni Dim", "Mil Harddach Wyt" and "Tren Bach y Sgwarnogod" could lose a verse each). Not sure if the doom-laden, apocalyptic Breton prologue and epilogue actually add anything. Still, we're clearly in the presence of a genius here.

Music : Ice Hockey Hair
Ah, the Ice Hockey Hair ep, what a triumph. Its hard to believe these songs didn't make it to Albums (well smokin' is on out spaced) Lets face it the song ice hockey hair is the sound of a band at there best, its groovy, funky, electronic, ecletic, rocking and catchy, everything we have come to expect and adore of the furrys. Then theres "smokin", a song to get you dancing and chanting along with the guys "i just wanna smoke it" (how many times on this ep does it actually say that line?) and is a really individual SFA track but also has everything you could want from the group. Add a brilliant instrumental (which also has all sfa styles in one) and a, deserved, reprise of smokin, "lets quit smokin" and the ep is complete. Basicly it has, in three tracks, ... Read More:

Music : Deliver Us From Evil - Germany
After the brilliance that was `Nightflight' I thought I was going to be in for a real treat. How wrong I was.

I don't know whether Nightflight was a typical Budgie album but it is the only other Budgie album that I had heard and I therefore used this as my reference point.

Deliver Us From Evil is, in my opinion, amateurish, contrived, badly written, badly produced and above all well below the standard that I believed Budgie were capable of.

Songs like `Bored With Russia', 'Finger On The Button' and `N.O.R.A.D' sound as though they have been written by a cheap Saturday night covers band and by the time I got to `Alison' I'd lost the will to live and I had to skip it.

Again in my opinion, there is no redeeming ... Read More:

Music : Sleep/Holiday
When I first listened to this album, I found it pleasent enough but didn't think that I would come back to it that often. However, I found that I eneded up listening to it every day for a couple of months. I suddenly came to the conclusion that it is one of my favourite albums of all time. I must admit that I did like all the other Gorky albums also, but this one took a bit longer to absorb. I know that Euros Childs has a solo album out soon. Have Gorky's split up? I hope not anyhow.
