This has to be one of my absolute favourite albums of recent months. It's Will Holland at his absolute best. Even if you're not familiar with this man's work, I defy you not to like this!!

I bought this on a whim after hearing the song "Country Life" and it is simply brilliant. My personal fave songs are:

Country Life - brilliant thought provoking lyrics from Steve Knightley such as "the coffin of our English dream lies out on the village green/where agri-barons, CAP in hand/strip this green and pleasent land".

The Galway Farmer(live) - Phil Beer's violin playing on this just has to be heard!

Roots - more great lyrics, my fave line being "and a minister said his vision of hell/is 3 folk singers in a pub near Wells".

Cousin Jack - just great!

The Downeaster "Alexa" - a cover of Billy Joel (!!). There's a brilliant version of Phil playing it solo live on tenor guitar ... Read More:

There is no doubt that you know just what you will get from an Enya album, multi layered vocals, soothing piano and haunting melodies. In that sense, you could say that she is predicatble but when this type of music is done so well it is hard to fault.'Shepherd Moons' is one of Enya's finest pieces of work with many fine tracks.

'Caribbean Blue','Book Of Days' and 'How Can I Keep From Singing?' are all classic Enya.If you just want to wind down after a tough day you could do a lot worse than to put on this CD and chill out.A class act.

I was fortunate enough to see Bassekou and his Ngoni Ba live and I spent the entire concert with a big grin on my face (I couldn't help it). The exuberance, style and sheer fun of them playing together also comes across on the album. If,like me, you don't know much about African music but want a great place to start you may just have found it. The problem will be finding something as good to follow it

There are some people who come into your life in whatever fashion and change it utterly. Dylan more than anyone else through his own search for who, what and where he was going and also in musical terms formed an articulate voice for our inarticulate postwar generation. He throughout his search through the musical lexicon hall of fame including such luminaries as Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly and Cisco Houston injected a large dose of adrenalin into our teenage angst and we started to recognise what kind of world we were living in and and that we wanted to and how to change it.From thinking that in the words of one politician "we had never had it so good "we started realising how bad it was and and an inkling of how bad it was going to get.Dylan's songs and ... Always on the lookout for something new and interesting I bought this on the strength of the above review, and having heard one or two comments about this singer but not remembering where. It is quite a surprising experience to listen to this album for the first time - Pete's voice is unique and harks back to country balladeers of the 40s and 50s. He sings in an almost falsetto but it isn't quite that - there are touches of early Dylan and Woody Guthrie and an amalgam of earthy country styles that ends up in his own very individual style. I would love to see him live to get more of a handle on this, as I'm not sure this album gives a true picture of him. It is very retro and almost verges on the pastiche, but just about pulls it off. For someone from Kent, it sounds like it was ... Read More:

Los Campesinos! are a seven-piece (four boys and three girls) hailing from Cardiff. Their debut album Hold on Now Youngsters is an absolute indie party riot!

The album is full of perfectly sculpted indie classics. The highly charged, energtic songs are witty, creative and in all honesty brilliant songs leap at you like that first pint of Lager after a long week at work, slap you hard in the face, smile, and invite you to join their party - riotous tunes from start to finish.
No one with an ounce of a music brain should go on any longer without listening to You! Me! Dancing! - definetly a cult classic. That would get even the most cynical of critic bopping up and down. Whilst no other song might be quite as amazing, the rest are still quirky, fast paced indie ... Read More:

LOTC was my intitation into the world of Joni Mitchell. Fourteen years old, with romantic notions about Woodstock as it approached the twentieth anniversary, I searched out the cassette to hear what Graham Nash had described.

The "Woodstock" anthem was the catalyst for LOTC success, but it is by no means the only, or even best, tune this effort offers. "Morning Morgantown" sets the scene for a recording that basically takes the listener through a pastoral panorama. Along the way are some observations about the intrusion of art meets commerce ( "For Free"), manipulative triangles ( " Conversation"), Gender roles ( the stunning " Arrangement"), and spiritual quest ( " The Priest"). Of course, another career launcher, " Big Yellow Taxi", graces this album, as well as ... Read More:

This is a fantastic collection of songs, and perhaps the best of all the albums which sprang from CSN. It has Crosby's strongest selection of songs, including the amazing Games and the haunting and moving Where will I be? This and Wind on the water represent Crosby and Nash's creative peak, with or without S and Y.
