This could be Pentangle's best album - 'Basket of Light' is the only other contender, but this one has much more material on it. The first disc was recorded live in 1968 and the second is from the studio. The live show is great, with a mix of folk standards, originals and instrumentals showing great dexterity and skill from all involved. Bert Jansch and John Renbourn's version of Mingus' 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' is a standout instrumental tune - very relaxing and melodic. The studio set is a strong album in its own right, with highlights (for me) being the guitar duel of 'In Time', the morality tale 'Sovay' and the grooving 'I've Got A Feeling', which borrows the chord sequence from Miles Davis' 'All Blues'. Rory Gallagher is the greatest performer I have ever seen.My first Gallagher gig was at the Free Trade Hall in 1977 when he tore the place apart with an amazing live show full of energy and guitar playing mostly on his signature Strat.He had this presence on stage and used to charge around running to the edge of the stage to meet his audience.After the gig the front ten rows of seats were flattened. He toured extensively around the world and I reckon on the street he is the peoples choice over someone like Eric Clapton. This CD goes a long way to capture the energy of Rory and I think is far better than the "Big Guns" compilation.Some of my personal favourites are on here and the choice of tunes covers Rory's rock,blues,jazz and acoustic material. ... I discovered Joni about a year ago, hearing the song Case of You in the film Practical Magic and looking it up online. I bought the album Blue and completely fell in love with its mellowness and her wonderful voice. Having listened to Blue about 7 million times i decided to seek out more of Joni. I read the reviews on a few of her albums on Amazon and settled on Court and Spark. I expected it to be pretty similar as it was released only a few years after Blue, and was surprised to find it different. It's not as mellow as Blue, it's more jazzy and funky, more instruments are going on, backing singers- everything. But it doesn't take away the feeling she puts into the music, and of course her wonderful voice is still there (if a little lower?). ... Read More:

I'm Sorry , call me closed minded , but i simply can not be friends with anyone who thinks this album merely OK. If you still don't like it after 10 listens , subscribe to MTV and buy the whole back catalogue of Now Thats What I Call Music albums . I know it's snobbery , but you really are not a Dylan fan if you don't like this. If you are a football fan , it's a bit like a guy in the pub claiming Maradona was a bit too small to be considered as good as Sir Bobby Charlton. ..Buy it..if you don't like it , go live in Germany. They have made David Hasselhoff No1 there.

this is the early years of the Dubliners with Luke and Ciaran who sadly died. along with John Barney and Ronnie this is a excellent triple cd. this comes with booklets with the history of this brilliant Irish band. photos of them from the 60s are really good as well. 51 songs and tunes will have you tapping your feet to this cd from start to finish. ive been playing there music since 1967 and still enjoy there music today.

As a huge fan of U2, I don't like this compilation and never listen to it. I only bought it for the Milan DVD (which is worth it) and the booklet. I have all the songs already, obviously, but that's not why this is a bad 'Best Of'. It's because it really isn't the best of. I know that is an opinion, but I don't see how you can release something so titled and ignore almost a whole decade of a band's career. I understand this CD is for new fans who might have got into U2 just recently, but this is no way to show them what to expect. It's heavily weighted in favour of the 00s output, with the 80s following behind, and the 90s almost airbrushed out of history.
