Theme Time Radio Hour is one of the most original and enlightening music programmes on the air. It's brilliantly presented by Bob Dylan who plays an eclectic mix of often obscure records all linked by a theme. Dylan's knowledge of American popular music is immense and each programme is peppered with his unique combination of wit and wisdom. So, Chrome Dreams are to be congratulated for issuing this double album containing 52 wonderful tracks of the kind of music to be heard on TTRH. The only thing missing is the man himself but that shouldn't deter anyone from acquiring this marvellous and wide-ranging compilation of great music.

This is even better than the first soundtrack and i love every single song. Very pleased to see Bethany's Halo on here, that girl needs to release an album of her own soon. Other highlights are songs by Nada Surf, Jacks Mannequin and Fall Out Boy, who all have guest starred in One Tree Hill. My personal favourite would be recurring guest star Tyler Hiltons cover of 'Missing you', it is truly amazing and i am now a great fan of Tyler Hilton based purely on his efforts in this series as he isn't well known in the UK.

First of all i'd like to state that i'm not really a Crowell fan , or at least i wasn't. As a fan of all things Country/Americana i'd obviously heard the name Rodney Crowell a lot but i hadn't really checked him out until now. I think i bought a compilation of his 80's stuff a while back but it couldn't have done much for me . Swayed by 4 star reviws in Uncut and Mojo magazines i decided to give this effort a try and , jeez , am i glad .It really is a brilliant album , full of mellow , mature songs , superb lyrics and fantastic music. Top production too by Joe Henry who duets with Rodney on the masterful track about (i think) his daughter , track 6 on the CD . I shall certainly be tracking back and buying some of his earlier albums ... Read More:

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary,the Turtles,the Byrds and Johnny Cash. And commercially electric Dylan was just right. This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan.If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began. My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window. Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book. Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

In many ways I'm almost glad that Cohen is loathed so much in some quarters. You used to be able to buy perfect copies of this on vinyl for a pound from boot-sales. You couldn't imagine a pound being better-spent. I won't go into great depth here: if you know the tracks (and you should) you'll know how resplendent and timeless they all are. But, for a bit of fun, I propose my own alternative list, had I compiled the original album. As follows: SUZANNE, STRANGER SONG, SISTERS OF MERCY, SO LONG MARIANNE, HEY THAT'S NO WAY TO SAY GOODBYE, BIRD ON THE WIRE, THE PARTISAN, AVALANCHE, FAMOUS BLUE RAINCOAT, JOAN OF ARC, WHO BY FIRE, FIELD COMMANDER COHEN.

For less than £4 this CD is well worth buying. The other reviewers who gave it 5 stars are not wrong. It does create a sense of peacefulness and calm.

I wont lie to you, I bought their first album and totally hated it. I love this album however, and really felt I should write a review upon seeing the unfair average rating this has received so far. The guy that did the ridiculous screaming on the first album has gone - and so has the rubbish song writing. I am not the kind of person who judges music by lyrics (unless they are glaringly awful like 'I am a mountain, I am the sea'), so maybe I am wrong in saying that the lyrics on this album are totally inoffensive. I am sure I am not wrong in saying that this album is jam packed with well written, catchy, melodic rock songs that you wont want to skip.

I got this before going to see Van Morrison Live at Symphony Hall. The CD made up for the lack of known songs sung by Van in his live performance. It was a strange affair, he did not speak to the audience and performed a very self indulgant show. However I can't fault the CD it is great.

Catching up on some old favourites, I pulled this album out of the drawer and was instantly reminded of one of the few bands who kept music alive for me through the otherwise barren nineties. By all means get the albums - all great, but one cannot quibble about the standard of track on here, every one memorable (OK, apart from the Scotland world cup song "Don't come home too soon" - off course we did!), every one melodic, bitter sweet expertly played and sung - my god I miss these boys. I am reminded of the story (perhaps apocryphal - who knows?) of one of the reasons that they didn't sell as many records as they might because a famous national record store filed the band under "A" for Amitri, ie Del (first name) Amitri (Surname) Solo Artiste!
