Well this is my first review on anything,so it must count for something. I got this last week and must off played it at least 6 times in the car. It's a joy to drive ! Thank you Classic FM for introducing me to this excellent album,and thank you to the honest reviews from the customers who had the sense to buy it. The tunes are all different,not as some say the same,they grow on you. A tune has been going through my head all afternoon and is as I type! I'm not complaining. The only problem I have now is deciding what to get next.

Great release of Val Doonican in time for Christmas. Especially pleased to find "I'm gonna get there somehow" on this CD

SONGS FROM A ROOM features many great songs such as Bird on the Wire, A Bunch of Lonesome Heroes, The Partisan and many others. In fact there is not one song on this great CD which I don't enjoy hearing over and over again. LEONARD COHEN is without a doubt the greatest artist of all times.

As a fan of Kris Drever's "Black Water", I was a little disappointed to find that this album comes across more as a follow up to Roddy Woomble's solo work. Drever and McCusker are very much in the background, and for me the result is that Woomble's tendencies towards overwrought lyrics and under-developed melodies comes to dominate proceedings. There are some bright spots, but to me it seems like a missed opportunity for a more balanced collaboration.

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary,the Turtles,the Byrds and Johnny Cash. And commercially electric Dylan was just right. This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan.If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began. My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window. Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book. Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

This is a terrific melange of medieval, celtic, and spanish music, all put together as only the Chieftains can. Wild as it may sound, it works beautifully. It makes for an original, non-traditional approach to celtic strains that serves only to delight the listener. The contributions of Galician piper Carlos Nunez, as well as that of Linda Ronstadt and Los Lobos, further enriches this innovative recording, making it one well worth having in one's collection.

Theme Time Radio Hour is one of the most original and enlightening music programmes on the air. It's brilliantly presented by Bob Dylan who plays an eclectic mix of often obscure records all linked by a theme. Dylan's knowledge of American popular music is immense and each programme is peppered with his unique combination of wit and wisdom. So, Chrome Dreams are to be congratulated for issuing this double album containing 52 wonderful tracks of the kind of music to be heard on TTRH. The only thing missing is the man himself but that shouldn't deter anyone from acquiring this marvellous and wide-ranging compilation of great music.

Does the world need another grumpy middle-aged man singing about how modern life is rubbish? When the songwriter is as good as Henry Priestman, the answer is definitely "Yes". Priestman's ability to marry catchy tunes with savage but witty lyrics is in evidence right from opening track and first single "Don't You Love Me No More?" - with its singalong R-E-D-U-N-D-A-N-T chorus it may be the first great credit crunch song. In a similar vein are songs like "No to the Logo", "Did I fight in the Punk Wars for this?" and my personal favourite "It's called a Heart", a stinging attack on management-speak. But apart from the cynicism is a strong romantic thread, typified by songs like "Grey is the New Blonde" and "What You Doin' with Me?". And for all old New Wave fans ... Read More:
