It's strange to see how split opinions are on this album but I'm sure David Coverdale would rather elicit strong views either way than just have everyone say "Yes, it's okay I suppose". Personally I wasn't overly impressed when I first played it. In fact I was very disappointed. However, as Whitesnake played such an important role in my musical development I persevered for a couple more listens and boy am I glad I did. While it is not perfect, it is still a very strong addition to the catalogue. I'd advise those of you who binned it earlier to revisit it and you might just realise that you made a mistake.

There are many inexpensive Ike & Tina compilations on the market but until recently they had always dated from a slightly later period than their Sue labels recordings, which Stateside have now released, almost in full, on this and its companion, Don't Play Me Cheap/It's Gonna Work Out Fine. Apart from a few singles, most are appearing on CD for the first time. They start with the very first recording credited to Ike and Tina Turner, from 1959, A Fool In Love, which charted on both pop and R&B charts. This is a very strong album, one of her best, especially if you like the bluesy side of Etta. Actually, it isn't ALL blues - she gets a rapper called Def Jef to do a bit on one track, which personally I find spoils that track a lot.Many good tracks though, and several outstanding ones such as 'The Blues Don't Care' & "You're Real Good Thing (Is About To End)' There are more great tracks as well, I just can't be bothered to list them all. Sorry to be a little cynical, at least in the title of this review. In her autobiography, Etta wrote that she was a bit surprised that white people saw her as a BLUES artist. produced by phil spector need i say anymore love phil spector the wall of sound this album flopped in america but in britain it was successful see britain knows talent when it sees it!! tracks that i love on here are of course river deep mountain high,everyday i have to cry,fool in love,save the last dance for me the whole album is fab too be honest though but there the ones that stand out for me the sound quality isant the best but thats the whole idea to have that old sound it was made in the 60s classic buy it!!
