Ten Years after in the new line up are fantastic and not stale. Their brandnew Live album is a highpoint in the long life of this Woodstock stars. Old hits and new songs on this Double CD sounds pretty fresh and the four boys are well suited to each other. The well known experience from Leo Lyons, Ric Lee and Chick Churchill join in with the vehement, but brilliant guitarwork of the amazing frontman and singer Joe Gooch. The man from Wales is a new born star with a great future. And "Roadworks" is certainly one of the best Live albums in 2005. Enjoy it!

This adventurous band was in many ways ahead of their time. Dale Bozzio playing the role of intelligent sex-symbol way before Madonna. And the band mixing avantgarde with pop, relying heavily on the virtuosity of the bandmembers: drumlegend Terry Bozzio, guitarist Warren Cucurullo, who later joined Duran Duran some years and the potent and inventive bassplayer Patrick O'Hearn, who later concentrated on new age like music and movie-scores. All four members having played with Frank Zappa for years, which certainly is audible. These recordings date back to their tour in support of "Rhyme And Reason", arguably their strongest collection of songs. I was really looking forward to this new album especially after 'Things Buried' (which was frankly a masterpiece) but this new one fails to capture the haunting beauty of a track like 'Drops Of Mercury' or others such as 'Red Square' or 'Nevada'. Only the last two tracks have the kind of spine-tingling beauty I have come to love in Richard Barbieri's work. Many of the pieces on here are indeed thoughtfully composed and impeccably recorded but fail to have any lasting impact. Partly, this is probably because the bar was raised so high on 'Things Buried'. This album perfectly captures the fantastic atmosphere at a gig recorded on Christmas Eve 1977 in front of Lindisfarne's home-town crowd at Newcastle City Hall,the production is amazing,the vocal harmonies are superb,the band play with both consumate skill and incredible enthusiasm, and the banter with the audience is heart-warming. I would also describe this as a cheerful,uplifting album that definitely raises the spirits...so go and buy it NOW !!!
