Whether or not you liked the film, and I did, this soundtrack is packed with quality tunes played magnificently in the style of our hero - either James Bond or the 'Barclaycard Hero'. My daugthers found it useful in their schoolwork - one using it to enliven an English project presentation and the other using a track as the music in a gymnastics routine. So its music to enjoy and the sort that can be useful in other ways! This is a well produced quality album that stands up in its own right whether you've seen the film or not.

Why does it fall to me to review this? It's the times we're living in. Bad is good. Peace is war. Occupation is democracy. Well, here's the antidote to that. A dispatch from the anti-vietnam-war movement of the late 60s - Jefferson Airplane in their revolutionary political activist mode. Except that they by-and-large aren't, and when they are it can be very tongue in cheek like on 'Volunteers' itself. 'We should be together' however is an anthem for all time for all who want to see the people run the world. I am a big Police fan now after I discovered their self-titled album in the summer last year. They are one of my favourite bands and they are so amazing. Sting's own music just doesn't have the energy that The Police have. Sting's solo music is more personal and is more sensitive and expressive. I bought the greatest hits compilation Fields of Gold a while ago and I was totally impressed. It is an amazing album and has all of Sting's best songs on it. So if you want the best of Sting then that is the album to buy. The album takes songs from Sting's first solo work from 1984 to Ten Summoners tales in 1994, arguably his best album. After Nothing Like The Sun, I would rate this as Sting's next best effort. There are some truly great tracks on this - Hounds Of Winter, Hung My Head, Let Your Soul...There is no doubt that Sting is one the great songwriters of our day and this is a particularly mature offering. As ever, Sting has brought together a great collection of session musicians to create a real treat for the musical purists - Great guitars, keys,drums etc. Production is top notch. Overall a very strong collection of songs containing some of Sting's very best lyrics. Any serious music fan should own this.
