These albums are a complete break from Bill's legendary guitar work, but never the less they are well worth a listen, as are all of Bill Nelson's albums, but these two are amongst my personal favourites & I hope that it's a style that Bill will repeat sometime in the future. A distinct lack of high tech recording, but this just adds to the albums quirky Charm & appeal, they might take two or three listens, but each time there after you will notice something new, what can I say? Excellent, are you listening to your copies yet?

So much for second album syndorme. It races out of the blocks, with the pounding Girls And Boys, and impressively keeps the pace up for the best part of the album. Single worthy Shake! Shake! is a fantastic track. And songs like Move To Newyln and All Or Nothing allow you to temporarily catch your breath before the stomping Turnaround. The album is littered with huge festival sized tunes, and wonderful acoustic numbers. The Subways have managed to improve every aspect of their debut album. The lyrics are stronger, the music is tighter and it proves almost impossibe to pick out a favourite track. The DVD/Enhanced version of the album is defintely worth the extra couple of pennies. It seems like The Subways are trying to appeal to a wider audience with this album as it has a slightly softer, more commercial sound. It gets off to a brilliant start with "Girls and Boys" which has to be one of their best tracks but after that I find myself yearning for the more raucus sound of the first album. Good but not great.

I have seen Lister play an acoustic set live, then bought his album. He has his own agenda set it seems, with some clever lyrics, skillful guitar picking and contemporary vocals that could easily appeal to both blues and rock punters. Aynsley Lister, The Mustangs, Ian Parker, Ian Siegal are the names to follow on the blues circuit. Nothing Stays The Same Swagger Split Decision

Where do you begin to review something that is so perfect and flawless!Because that's exactly what this album is. Elizabeth is often compared to Loretta Lynn and this album will show you why. With the title track Sometimes It Takes Balls To Be A Woman,this has Loretta written all over it.With it's feisty,tongue-in-cheek lyrics and traditional sound you will easily fall in love with this one.Other great uptempos are Times Are Tough In Rock 'N Roll(this has a great bluegrass style to it),He Got No Heart and What Do I Do.All cracking songs.
