Not much to say seeing as everyone has said it, but this is a brilliant album and has brought me to appreciate jennings and kristofferson (who i had not heard much of before)

An album titled "the country collection" is the last thing that you expect to have a radical political message. Perhaps this is an intended irony, I don't know. I actually believe that this is a very apt title for this collection of songs because in my view, people like Kris Kristofferson represent what country music should be about. A music of the people. Compare this to the tripe that is nomally seen on CMTV, the commercialisation of country music that has turned it into another bland, uninspired, politically safe and correct genre where the distinction between it and pop music is constantly being eroded. Instead, Kris sees country music as a medium for dealing with issues that are important and things we would rather forget and ignore. Read More:
