This is an absolutely outstanding CD. If you never buy another disc of Liszt, and especially if you love Bach, this is the CD to buy! Leslie Howard's playing is always crisp and clear and his treatment of the counterpoint in the four part fugues is beyond price, most notably in the A minor Prelude and Fugue and the G minor Fantasy. This disc is really more Bach than Liszt as Liszt's transcriptions of the organ preludes and fugues are always sensitive to the original organ music. My feeling is that if Bach could have heard his organ pieces played like this on a piano with the colouring that Leslie Howard gives them, he would have been amazed at the difference in sound.
