The first CD of this collection is quite good, the second is pretty good too. They are both quite mellow and relaxing. The third CD is too odd and new agey. The fourth CD is quite brooding and not at all relaxing, it's mainly Bach music with cheap and nasty synth effects played over the top.

As a younger listener of classical music, I have found this album to be a wonderful collection of well loved pieces, all in one place. Perfect. Although previously I did not have much interest in opera, I have found the compositions on this album to be fantastic and I now have a greater appreciation for pieces like Bellini's Casta Diva, and Dvorak's Song to the Moon. I am only disappointed by one thing, and I am afraid that must be the appalling attitude of anon1659, who thinks that music must be serious to be enjoyed. This is the first ever classical CD that I have ever brought and I thought classical CD just couldn't be better than this! Not so classical as typical classical music but I guarantee that it is an excellent relaxing piece. Some particularly good ones my personal favourite being Now we are free that I can't stop repeating it for hours!

This is the first ever classical CD that I have ever brought and I thought classical CD just couldn't be better than this! Not so classical as typical classical music but I guarantee that it is an excellent relaxing piece. Some particularly good ones my personal favourite being Now we are free that I can't stop repeating it for hours!

I have never been into classical music, however the TV programs Maestro and Last Choir standing (I know trash TV... sorry) made me realise I did like some classical music. So time to test that theory, and of course this CD fitted the bill perfectly, a bit of everything and 99% you will probably know. Good album, maybe I may have discovered culture :-)
