I can't believe I am the first person to write a review for this album. It's easily one of my favourite records. I've had it for two years now and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that I listen to songs off it every week. I'd wanted to get into folk for a while but was looking for an introduction. James Raynard was exactly what I was looking for; a young bloke doing unpretentious takes on old British folk tunes. I find this album has a real gothic tinge to it with epic songs like 'The Loathsome worm and the mackerel of the sea' and 'The Outlandish Knight'.
